Any Updates?

Gonna be working on this project quietly, as I don't really want to make a lot of posts about smth as small as this.

How's development going?

Hello, welcome to the gamepage of my first actual game I've been developing, known as:

Why I'm making this

Mainly to learn GameMaker, but there are a couple of other reasons. I've wanted to make my own games for years, as I've seen other people make them and it's seemed like a fun process. My main inspirations were FNAF fangames like FNAF Plus and Project Box, both were being developed in GameMaker. Another reason is just so I can learn to code, and so far, I feel like I've learnt a lot. I probably won't use GameMaker if I want to make games to put on Steam, as you've got to pay $100 per game on Steam + an additional $100 to put a GameMaker game on Steam, which just seems like a waste when Godot is RIGHT THERE.

What the game will be like

Honestly, the full design of the game at the moment has kept changing since I've been working on it. At the moment, I'm kinda just experimenting with fnaf gameplay elements and putting them into the game to see what works and what doesn't. By the end of the dev cycle (which could take years if I'm not careful), it could be either a FNAF 1 clone, a FNAF game with poor gameplay and no story, or something completely original. Right now, I'm leaning towards the latter option.

At first, I was planning on making it it a FNAF fangame, but realizing that that would take years, and I wouldn't even get to profit off of it, I've decided to stray away from FNAF a bit, as I want my first official game to be somewhat good. So all I'm gonna say is, don't expect a FNAF fangame by the end of this game's development process, because a lot can change within a few months.

What is the part of the game I've focused on the most?

Right now I've just been drawing sprites to try and make a plan for what this game should look like and play like. I have serious doubts that I'll be able to scare people with this, meaning I have no excuse for poor gameplay. FNAF 1's gameplay is boring, but at least it has a spooky atmosphere. If I've got no horror, no good graphics, and a crap FNAF 1-style gameplay, no one will want to play it, especially me. Maybe I'll release a 1.0 version of the game, and then maybe add in some fun bonus content (heavily) inspired by FNAF Plus, to make it more fun and replayable in the future.
