BACKSTORY(player):

THE player had done just about 99 routes, mixed up pacifist, neutral, and genocide. The player made a reset one more time for the hundredth route, until... the game glitched. The player was confused, and closed the game, little did they know the game was just processing the huge amount of memory. The player rebooted the game, and the title was normal, except it had a glitched effect.

The player shrugged it off sure that it w a s f i n e. well of course not! AND DID I MENTION THAT THE SAVE FILE IS NO LONGER THERE!? MEANING YOU ONLY HAVE A SINGLE SHOT!(exactly like Undertale without a save or reset option.)

BACKSTORY(monsters):

THE monsters before up in the surface had grown a weird disease, a virus making them glitch which caused the humans to banish them to the UNDERGROUND. The monsters thought this was unfair, and hate festered inside them. And so the very inner core of the monsters was utterly changed. They grew evil, picking off the lesser, weaker monsters such as Froggit, some of the Temmies(although the Tem Shop still survives of course) and Vulkin, to name a few unfortunate monsters. Sans grew stronger in attacks((He fights you even in pacifist or neutral to test you for the Asgore fight(which is way harder now)similar to fell sans)), shed some of his laziness, Papyrus' ambition grows bigger, Undyne's determination grows stronger, and Alphys' confidence is way through the roof(and she never stutters), Mettaton is purely evil now (even sabotaging a previous prototype made by Alphys out of jealousy), and Asriel is not a crybaby anymore, just to name a couple trait changes in this AU.

BACKSTORY(human):

THERE was a human named Skyler. He'd heard of someone called Frisk dissappear into that hole. . .

CANON LORE:

This is a take on the sequel to Undertale. In Undertale, they already had the virus, and that was the real reason humans declared war on them. The virus in the first place gave them the ability to take souls. And so, in Undertale, the virus wasn't showing its symptoms yet. And after Frisk fell and did a Neutral Run, this enraged the monsters and well, worsened the virus, causing them to turn into their current state.
