What do you think?

just played through the prologue demo and i have to say that it's awesome!) it's a fun-filled, difficult RPG with clear inspirations from the Shin Megami Tensei series that has its own unique twists and turns that make it stand out from it's father series, and in some really good ways, too!) the most important thing about Guiding Abyss is that it strays from the usual post-apocalyptic/modern life worlds of the main-line SMT series and instead places the players in a fantasy world!) while this might be caused by the limitations of RPG maker's default graphics, i think that it's a limitation for the better - the modern-life-turned-apocalypse worlds of the original SMT get boring after a while, so, this game's world feels like a breath of fresh air) anf while the game does have some bugs or glitches here and there, it still can be completed and the experience you get from doing so is definitely worth it - to sum this all up, the current demo for the game is a diamond in the rough, so to say, jajaja!)

now, i'll go over some of the little, but, nevertheless, great details that make the whole experience all more worthwhile - like the the keyboard config and fullscreen on/off options!) they're welcome in any game and i thank you guys for adding them in) the enemy in-battle graphics in this game are AWESOME, especially the custom ones that you guys made! the very first battle with the guy that casts Will Of Fate makes a great first impression on what the in-game enemies look like, his texture and abnormal body look amazing and are very memorable details - the later enemies don't dissapoint, too, with their freaky and cool graphics, although, i wish the tutorial slime looked different and more fitting to the rest of the in-game enemies, but, oh well!) the choice system with the added affection parameters for each of the important characters you meet really adds to the RPG feel of the game and also makes for some great replayability, as you can choose a different Child of Fate each playthrough to go along with!) the sidequest with the man-eater slime and the burial of the guy that the living ooze ate is great - the battle with the man-eating slime is also the first proper battle that our heroes will participate in, and, as such, it's even more awesome! the kid in the tent that heals the party up is a great thing to have on the map, especially early on in the game, while the players are still getting the hang of the battle system!) and, finally, the way the village chief and all of hero's friends say their goodbyes before the end of the prologue is a very touching and great way to finish the game's introduction - i say, will done, DiegoAMiranda!)

now, for some of the bugs that i've encountered in the game and wrote down about while playing: firstly, there are some save files left in the game for certain points - i guess those were left over from testing or are just a demo thing but getting rid of them in future releases would be nice... the final message in the tutorial battle with the slime plays during the battle sequence instead of when the main character's turn starts. if you accidentaly talk to Mary while she's walking to her house then she repeats her dialogue from when you talked to her after the class and tries to repeat her movement path, but since it's not the same spot she started in the path gets broken. the snow-covered tents don't really fit the lush green forest - normal ones would fit better, i think, especially since neither our hero nor Mary comment on how they look out of place. the healer kid doesn't actually, well, heal you after the awakening scene - it would be nice if you guys put a Recover All event command after our hero is back at the tent or reunites with Mary. the main character's portrait stays the same even after the awakening when you go back to the healer kid in the tent. and, finally, in the cutscene where all of the hero's friends from village say their goodbyes to him when Mary is supposed to appear she's not anywhere on the screen, for some reason... while none of these bugs or problems are game-breaking or make the whole experience bad, getting rid of them or adressing them in some way in future releases would be great)

all in all, the demo for Guiding Abyss was awesome - it broke several of my expectations with its fantasy world, awesome characters with great designs, unique twists and turns along the way that shook up the gameplay and it's clear admiration towards the SMT series - all of these points make it a very enjoyable experience that could be even better if the bugs from the previous paragraph were to be fixed, jajaja!) DiegoAMiranda, i wish you guys and everyone else working on the game best of luck, nerves of steel and lots of inspiration while continuing the development of Guiding Abyss and any of your future endeavors that you might embark on!) take care!
