Check out "Neon Phoenix" in my Gamejolt compilation #2

It's a very good game, simple but at the same time hard with a good difficulty scaling, it has the feeling of a arcade game. The controls are pretty simple, you just move left or right and control your velocity. The music it's also very good, it fits well with the pace of the game. One thing I think is missing is more variety, the game can get a bit boring after many minutes playing, a simple thing that you could have done is to change the background or the spike color when the player hits certain points, like, each 10 points the background would change, its a very simple thing but it gives the feeling of progress

Excellent! That soundtrack was great, and the controls felt really smooth. Takes a minute to get used to but it starts feeling really fluid. Also like that at first it seems easy but starts to ramp up the difficulty pretty quickly. I'd love to see a standalone/downloadable version of this, perhaps with controller support if possible? The physics attached to controlling seems like it'd work really well with an analog stick!

I think it would be really awesome if you could put the track in the zip file that you download as a mp3. You have some real talent with music development and would love to see some more tracks from you in the future. Awesome work in total!

SOUNDTRACK! WHAT IS IT!?!?!

Neon Phoenix - Candella's Theme

Neon Phoenix (alpha) for the 80s Jam.
A very simple game built in about 2 days (plus change for the music), for the 80S Jam.

As with all C2/HTML5 games, FireFox is not recommended.
I use the Iron and Chrome browsers just for web gaming, and FireFox for everything else.

- - Controls - -

  • F = Fullscreen (recommended)

  • Numpad Plus & Minus = Zoom in & out (pixel scaling)

  • Arrows or WASD.

  • Space = Restart. (Skips the loss fade out.)

- - Overview - -

Touching a red diamond will turn it blue. Once all diamonds on a disk are blue, a new disk will spawn.

Avoid contacting the little violet sentinels. Each orbits a diamond, and touching them results in instant loss.

- - Known issues - -

  • FireFox will sometimes restart the music repeatedly. Reloading the page can fix this, but FireFox has a multitude of problems with C2/HTML5 games in general, so I recommend using the download version of the game instead.

  • More particle effects required. I feel strongly about this one. :3

- - Fixed issues - -

  • Touching a pair of stacked red diamonds can sometimes prevent a disk from being completed.

  • Starting ring gets small when completed, in the HTML version.

  • Font for score doesn't load correctly on some systems. (Fixing in next update.)

  • 60Hz refresh rate: If your monitor is set to a refresh rate other than 60Hz, the game will not run the correct speed (e.g. 120Hz will run it at 2x speed). This game is not yet frame rate independent, though I hope to fix that.
