This isn't shown in the game, But His daughter Birgit kills the family after the ending of the game. Its apart of the lore. Birgit killed them by Burying them in the sand to suffocate. After completing her tape, Mr. Buchanan takes Birgit's soul into the place where he keeps all souls. Ashley and the other lost souls (Gretchen, Jonsey, Alexander, Drake, And Tim) play their tapes of how the families died after what Buchanan did to them.
