STORY:

INTRO:

It takes place after Chaotix's good ending, where Eggman was presumed to have died in the explosion (after the battle against Metal Sonic Kai), but in reality, Eggman had secretly escaped to the nearest islands he could've found, hence he ended up in the Miracle islands, Eggman has made his own hide out during four months, Eggman detected a source that's even way powerful than the Chaos Emeralds, so he sent tons of Badniks to dig until they found the Nebula stones..

SONIC & TAILS POV:

Meanwhile, Sonic and Tails decided to fly with their tornado for a trip, and they found the Islands, but they saw robot excavators digging, they decided to stop the robot, but Eggman detected them ahead of time, and before they could get close enough, Eggman sent Metal Sonic to destroy their tornado, and after that, Sonic and Tails got dispersed and they both fell in two different places..
