I was requested to make a GameJolt page for the game on his behalf.

This game is heavily inspired by Ao Oni by noprops, (Mario) The Music Box by CorpseSyndrome, and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic by Lauren Faust.

- History -

The original version of this game, called Aqua Oni, began development sometime in 2014.

Aqua Oni was never publicly released, but the name was later changed to Toruko Oni.

The name was changed due to the tradition of Oni games being named after their respective colors in Japanese.

Toruko Oni was meant to release in an episodic structure, and the first episode was released sometime in 2015. Episodes 2-5 were never released.

Toruko Oni was an edit of Ao Oni 3.0 with a few changes, like different characters and some additional cutscenes.

Takoizu Oni began development sometime in 2023. The name was changed once again, and this was due to the name of Toruko Oni being inaccurate. The cast was similar to Toruko Oni, but many characters had significant design changes, as well as the introduction of entirely new characters. Version 1 was released sometime in early 2024, and this version is impossible to finish due to a bug in the Oni Room.

Version 2 began development shortly after Version 1, in 2024. The game was an improvement over Version 1, featuring an altered story, different puzzles, and maps. Unlike Version 1, it is beatable and has significantly fewer bugs. It was released in early 2025.

Shortly after the release of Version 2, Loki went back to fix Version 1 and released a heavily cut-down and fixed version of the game, named Version 1 Redux, also in early 2025.

About a month passed before development was started on the current build, Version 3. As with Version 2, it features an altered story, different puzzles, and maps. The artwork was also redrawn in a different style. This version is still receiving updates, but it was initially released in mid-2025. It has 2 endings currently, and is by far the longest version. This version also has the fewest bugs and is playable from start to finish without issues.
