==========================================================
We've just released our first puzzle game and want to gather feedback on:
Puzzle Design
How reasonable did you find the difficulty curve per section? Particularly mid-late game with our more advanced mechanics/puzzles.
We introduce a new mechanic every 10-20 levels with an accompanying manual entry and several simpler tutorial levels to start.
We roughly categorized levels as tutorial, applied knowledge, challenging and conceptual/fun. Which types of levels did you enjoy?
Were there any particular pain points or levels that you found frustrating or ended up stuck on?
User Interface/User Experience
We tried to provide useful time/sanity-saving features including fast forward, the ability to carryover demo progress and a mix of keyboard/UI shortcuts. Any ideas on features you would like to see in the future or with puzzle games in general?
We tried to be liberal with how we supported players via tutorial levels, tips between earlier levels, a manual describing game mechanics and a hint system. Did any of these features resonate with you? Any ideas on improvements?
Are achievements an engaging reason to play puzzle games?
Any general thoughts or experience supporting mobile with PuzzleScript/HTML. We tried to support this but ran into issues with:
Screen size/resizing issues were pretty egregious and prevents the game from being played on most devices.
Differences in how mobile and pc handles click/touch inputs (mobile was performing inconsistently between devices).
Issues with mobile specific controls like screen orientation, touch with small screens and inability to type and exit the game.
If we get consistent or particularly interesting/captivating feedback, we will consider implementing said feedback and updating the game in the coming weeks. Thanks, we appreciate your time!
