At first, times were bad enough. In th year 2015, a massive economic downturn put hundreds of millions more into poverty. A year and some odd months after that, come 2017, towards the year's end, a massive plague began to run rampant in the poorest of the poor parts of the world, namely in South America, Africa, and many parts of ex-Soviet bloc and China's cities. Nearly world wide, martial law was declared, which many people strongly opposed. There were small, local militias combatting military and police units, choosing to live under their own law, than the oppressive hands of their governments. After many months of bitter combat ,a massive solar flare hit, devastating electronics and communication, sending both the governments and the militias combatting the government forces into the dark ages. Many weapons, vehicles, and forms of communication were decimated, bringing what remained of society to it's knees. It is now fifty years after that event.
