THIS IS THE WINDOWS VERSION, PLAY THE HTML5 VERSION HERE: https://tobylap.itch.io/bfdia-5b-complete-html5

Hi, this is a fan project for BFDI. I am able to make games with simple premises and it feels like a good idea to make this game for this reason:

BFDIA 5b is a game made by Cary Huang and serves as the second part of the five part episode of BFDIA 5. BFDIA is a YouTube animated series, and serves as the second season of Battle for Dream Island. All of the episodes in the series are videos that you can watch on YouTube at youtube.com/@BFDI, except BFDIA 5b, which is a game that was never completed and never explained how it connected to BFDIA 5c. It's kind of like tearing a chapter out of a book, you don't get the whole story. The game also ran on Adobe Flash Player, which is now discontinued. There are ports of the game, but none of them finished the game, and run poorly and stutter on computers that can easily handle it.

This game is going to be built on GameMaker (GameMaker Studio 2). And I will publish updates here.

Info about the game: The game will have its original planned 100 levels plus 33 bonus levels (unlockable via win tokens). The game is going to have the following as playable characters, as they were trapped inside Evil Leafy at the end of BFDIA 5a: Book, Match, Ice Cube, Pencil, Ruby, Bubble, Tennis Ball, Golf Ball, and Rocky. I will revamp the original 52 levels to be more fair (difficulty will remain, but the level design will be less cheap and fair. like the offscreen spikes you will get bounced into by a spring) However, as a side option, the original 52 levels will be playable in their original form as well.

All platforms the game will be on: Windows (downloadable on GameJolt and itch.io), and HTML5 (exclusive to itch.io*) (HTML5 runs the game through a web browser, so people on other operating systems can play, even mobile players which will have native touch controls, even the downloadable version for windows will have touch controls if you're a weirdo and use a touchscreen on a laptop instead of the keyboard for some reason)

Planned features:

  • Automatic restart if all characters die (or one character dies with no recovery center in the level, or if only armless characters remain)

  • WASD movement option for keyboard (off by default)

  • Video cutscenes (no characters will speak in these because I don’t support AI voices and I am not a good lip sync animator lol)

  • Original 52 levels in their 2013 form.

  • New Music (and returning music)

Q/A:

Why does only Windows have a downloadable version?:

I don't have a Mac or want to install Linux, which I need to port it over there, with HTML5, you can still play the game on your web browser, with everything being the same, and can still save your game.

Where is the save data located?:

Windows: C:\Users\[INSERT YOUR USERNAME HERE]\AppData\Roaming

HTML5: linked to browser cookies, with an option to download and upload save data to new browsers/computers.

What version of Windows will the downloadable version be supported by?:

Windows 7 (64-bit version) will be the only version confirmed, since GameMaker no longer supports 32-bit games. If I can get an older version of GameMaker and the game still works, I will make a 32-bit version for all versions of Windows after Windows 7.

Confirmed Versions:
64-bit (Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 11+) [WILL NOT WORK ON A 32-BIT CPU]

Might release if I can find a way:

32-bit (Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 11) [will work on 64-bit cpu, but would recommend installing the 64-bit version instead]

Will not make version for:

Windows Vista or any version released before Vista.

What is the framerate going to be?:

The framerate will be defaulted to 60fps, with options for 30fps, 60fps, 90fps, 144fps, 240fps, 360fps, and Uncapped framerate. With V-Sync being an option also (not an option with uncapped framerate)

What is the resolution for the game?:

The game will have the following as options:

  • 720p (HD): 1280 x 720 pixels

  • 1080p (Full HD): 1920 x 1080 pixels

  • 1440p (Quad HD): 2560 x 1440 pixels

  • 4K (Ultra HD): 3840 x 2160 pixels

  • 8K (Super Ultra HD): 7680 x 4320 pixels

The video cutscenes will be rendered at 4K for the Windows release, and 720p for the HTML5 release, to not take up too much RAM.

What will the options for display modes be?:

Fullscreen, Windowed, Borderless Windowed**

*HTML5 version will come to GameJolt, if it gets HTML5 functionality

**Borderless Windowed is a download exclusive mode, as it is incompatible with web browsers
