Gave up at the evil-half-brother god combination boss. Didn't much care for the story since it felt somewhat meaningless. Took some time to get used to, since I usually play vertically scrolling bullet hells.
I felt like the main character moved a tad too slowly and either the gaps in the patterns should've been wider or the hitbox smaller. The worst thing was the pushback associated with shooting, since it just makes the controls more unprecise. Also I don't see any reason in having bullet spread in a SHMUP game.
The difficulty is badly implemented in my opinion. The bullets are for the most part too fast and there isn't much time to react at the beginning of a new phase meaning that it's really hard to pass anything on your first try. For most of the bosses just sticking as close to them as possible and killing them as fast as possible seemed like the way to go.
The graphics were nice and the audio kinda reminded me of touhou on some level, but I think the gameplay could use some work. Well, it was free so I guess I can't complain too much. Seen worse SHMUPs which actually cost money.
even on the first boss its still hard!
Couldn't protect the baby squirrels. I'm a disappointment to my family.
I only had enough perseverance to get to the second boss.
Really can't last 20 minutes playing them bullet hell games!
It is always great when a game has its roots so far back in time that it actually brings back the feel of those days with its gameplay. As the game Jamestown proved, this genre is far from dead and it is still really fun to play. Bullet Buddy obscured me with its atmosphere and art, though I did not find the music fitting for such action and the sound effects could have also been more fitting with the art. It is a surprise for me how this game works with so low number of animations, but this is the art of making games :) I would advise as a fellow indie game dev to work more on this game and not consider it complete. Polish is always a good thing and in this game a lot can be done in that aspect. Taka the camera for instance. As it is, it is too fixed. It needs to move a bit (just a bit), shake a bit. I would add a button to switch the facing direction of the main character so he can shoot both ways (i am talking about the solo adventures, there are bosses where this could work great) and also mini animations of the background could be implemented to add to the atmosphere just a bit more. Although some players may find the difficulty over the top, In my opinion it is crucial for this game to be what it is, so I would not change that. Overall I had a great time playing this game, my only complaint is about the blend of music and art (maybe the composer and artist/gamedev are working together for the first time?!), but in time this gets better and better. So keep on doing games and check out my games here: http://gamejolt.com/profile/shooplor/110015/ and here: http://www.altctrlgamejam.com/games/54208b9264ff4f2c5a10ccce and tell me what you think. Your opinion would mean a lot to me :)
Really wish I could play, but it says "Another Program is Using This File" and nothing is running...
Bullet Bubby is a "shoot em up" or alternatively a "bullet hell" type of game. The game centers around boss battles, to an extent were there are no levels! Instead you must go head to head with huge and powerful bosses who employ the age old tactic of "shoot at him until he is dead".
Bullet Bubby features:
An unique and interesting artstyle
An insane and twisting story.
Over 7 tricky and difficult bosses
An upbeat musictrack that is sure to get you pumped for action
