I ended up silently killing people and murdering literally everyone and then hide all of their bodies in chests, ponds and other enclosed areas. O_O At least I got the plans out... Mission Accomplished! Hahaha! I really loved the gameplay and was fascinated with the logic that you have to keep your cover while having to hide the people that you had to kill. I'd rate it 4.6 if I could...

small fun! all this combined get this very nice game!

Nice game! I made a playthrough of it. Here's the link in case you were interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glUlHIpYHDI

I just have a few notes about the game. First off, I really liked your whole disguise thing. It kind of felt like a Ninja Agent 47. That said, it was a little confusing. I would ask people questions, and they would answer, but the same colored people would answer the same question differently. It was pretty confusing to try and figure out what was being asked of me. Perhaps a tutorial, or at least some form of instructions would be helpful.

The sword fighting was pretty clunky. I basically figured that I should avoid conflict if at all necessary. Later on, I would just run if I was ever discovered. You almost never leave a fight unharmed. If it had a slightly better combat system, I would enjoy it a lot more.

The graphics were good. I liked the style, but occasionally, things would be confusing. I would not know exactly what I was looking at. That is the only real complaint I had about the visuals, though. I really did like the minimalistic style.

As a whole, great game! It took quite a while to get used to the odd controls, but once I figured it out, I really enjoyed the game. I still think there should be some instructions, though, so I didn't have to spend such a huge portion of time trying to figure out how to do everything. Thanks for the game! I look forward to anything else you might create.

There was certainly a lot of thought put into this game. I found the control scheme a little hard to get used to, but once I did, I began wildly enjoying the game. My favorite part of the game was definitely the interrogation sequences, and I thought it was quite smart how you allowed the player to impersonate other characters and gain their abilities. (The Guard's ability to question other character's interrogation answers was very thought out).

I did, however, feel that the sword fighting was a slight bit on the clunky side, but that being said, It was just an enjoyable part of the game, I just wish it didn't feel so robotic. The lack of music was also a little disappointing, and would have really immersed me into the game a lot more. The graphics were minimal, which was fine, as I could tell what everything was instantly, and they didn't look unattractive.

Overall, Castle Kagoshima is an excellent game, and I would have probably given it the full 5 points if it had music, and a less clunky fighting system.

No spells, no Naruto-esque super techniques, no silly black uniforms: just authentic ninjutsu action!

Lord Shimazu, happily plotting the downfall of the shogun, is going to burn his war plans after briefing his vassals on their contents, to ensure no one else knows his secret tactics. Mata the Fox was sent into Kagoshima Castle to spy on the meeting, but was caught and imprisoned. Now he must find the plans, memorize them, and escape with his life.

Gameplay Update! If you don't have a disguise, you can hide in the doorways between screens and on the stairs: you won't be detected there unless you step into the room or an enemy draws too close. Get the layout of each screen before planning your next move!

Build Update! For some reason the gate was vanishing before Mata retrieved the plans, allowing him to simply walk out of the castle. Fixed.
