What do you think?

Nice game! I included it in my GDC Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/ewlOodR-A3w

Great game for the jam! Played and rated, and thank you very much for your kind words on my game :)

I actually really liked this. I didn't expect to from the screenshots and the graphics, but I did. The actual DESIGN of the game was very thoughtful and personal. This game kept my attention far longer than most jam games do because it gave me explicit "win" states that I could progress towards (the upgrades). That being said though, I think it would have been better if you told to player what each upgrade actually does, and gave some indication of how close the player was to "completion".

Overall, very cool game. Shows a lot of potential.

Very interesting twist on the side scrolling shooter genre. I like the melancholic mood in the whole game, and the compliment/release anger mechanics make it quite emotional and nuovo. One of my favourites in the jam, great job!

Some feedback: I think displaying your conversational points in the game screen would be useful so you don't have to keep visiting the shop to check (which, by the way, resets the screen and your round counter, which is a bit of a shame though it's probably the engine's fault). While shops in games are fun, I think the power-ups could come as drops from "defeated" NPCs(somewhat rare, or guaranteed after x successful hits), or as a power-up bar like in Gradius games, so that you don't have to keep switching screens.

And please don't worry about the difficulty curve adjustments! It's a game jam entry after all, and truth to be said, getting the difficulty just right requires lots of testing and usually a few Excel spreadsheets. If you ever need testers for this or any future game of yours, I'd love to help.

Interesting and emotional game! I see how 'getting distance from people' is MUCH easier than 'getting closer to people'. Truly deep!

Voted it on the Game Jolt GDC Jam, it would be great if you'd like to try our game as well!

#gjgdcjam entry in which your choice of words will either build someone up, or break them down. You can either disperse enemies with complements or drive them away with your pent up anger. After 5 rounds, you'll see what results from your decisions. You can use your earned conversation points to increase your vocabulary and remove those who walked in on you uninvited during such a stormy night.

Controls:
Walk using WASD.
complement: left mouse button
release anger: right mouse button
Shop to increase your vocabulary: escape
