Race Friends!

Hey guys! Race Friends is a fast-paced racing game created by Katie Jurek (me) and Sindre Hauge Larsen (this guy: http://gamejolt.com/profile/thesnidr/4658/), the two-person team making up Katspin Entertainment, originally in 72 hours for the 11th GMC Jam that ran from the weekend of July 26th. It came in 1st place out of 81 entries in the competition! =)

Race Friends is being further developed and finished both for PC and Android (and possibly also for HTML5 and iOS)! For now, this is a fully playable version. Any errors that may occur are likely due to the lack of DirectX. These usually pertain to the inability to run shaders. If installing DirectX doesn't fix your errors, please let us know. =)

There will be a Kickstarter made (once we iron out the details) to greatly speed up the completion of this project. Expect that to be posted here fairly soon! ^.^ In the meantime, help us devise pledge rewards! http://gamejolt.com/games/race-friends/news/kickstarter-pledge-rewards/16412/

Here are the details!

Five playable monster characters: Snoxy, Poof, Lilla, Gul, and Blicy (props to you if you know what language two of those names come from!)

Pick up a melon to boost your speed or an orange to "lovebump" your enemies off the tracks! ;P

Can choose between vehicles when you pick a character

Current unlockable content as you progress through the game includes: a new cup with three levels, new characters, and new vehicles (unlocked for completing races). Each character is tied to a color for now

Intro snippet: Hey there, welcome to Race Friends! In this game you’ll unlock vehicles and characters as you beat races. Hold ‘Z’ to brake, and if you hold it long enough to drift around turns, you’ll get a speed boost! Use items with ‘X’. Watermelons give you a speed boost and oranges make your lovebumps stronger!

Notes:

Hitting the SPACEBAR advances you to the next level after you've completed a race!
