What do you think?

This was a great game. The graphics were simple and cool, the music was perfect for the atmoshere, and the mechanics all worked well. When I first jumped into the game, I was expacting o to be playing a simple platformer. But it turns out this game has a great story and message behind it and I love it. All in all this was a great little game and I look forward to seeing what the developer comes up with in the future. I did a video on my experiance with the game if anyone is interested.

I really should leave a review, this was amazing.

Homewards is a very charming and good hearted story about a young cosmonaut growing up. You could probably figure that out from the description.

Let's get this review going!

POSITIVES:

  • Pleasant and simplistic colour scheme. The creator of this game knew what they were doing when they went about choosing a colour scheme. Soft and easy on the eyes.

  • Simplistic and well implemented controls. With only two buttons to control the entire game, one would think that it'd be hard to allow jumping into the fray. You'd be surprised to find that the jumping works incredibly well with only two buttons.

  • Charming storyline. Ignoring the few typos here or there, the story of this game is really good. There isn't a ton of narrative, but the game manages to bring up some feelings in you, whether happy or sad.

  • Metroidvania. Yes, that's right. As the description says, the game is actually a metroidvania game that has you explore areas so you can grow up and discover more.

It's really hard to find anything negative about this game, but I havea few minor gripes if you don't mind.

NEGATIVES:

  • Collision issues. It doesn't happen often, but it's possible to get stuck in walls if you jump incorrectly. Mostly in the corners, though. This only happened to me once, and I had to reset.

  • Player animation. NOTICE: THIS IS INCREDIBLE NITPICKING. The player animation is a bit slow for a character that's running pretty fast. You could up the speed a bit or something, otherwise it looks like they're ice-skating around the place.

So, would I recommend Homewards? YES! It's an incredibly well executed game that deserves more attention.

Can I do a let's play of this? If yes, can I monotize my video?

It's a really well made game. I like the 2 button control scheme. It takes a minute to get used to..but once you do, you're good to go! Anyone who watches my videos knows that I'm a sucker for simple graphics and sound. So I love that. My only complaint is that I got to a spot where there wasn't enough direction for me to continue. I"m not sure if I was just being unobservant or if I hit a bug. Either way, I enjoyed it a lot!

Wall jump is kinda hard until I figured out the trick but nonetheless it's one of best games I played from this jam

I tried to create a simple Metroidvania, in which you are playing as a little cosmonaut on a small unknown planet. He is very young, but as he grow up - this little world becomes more and more approachable to him.

So I combined both themes:
1)You only need to use two buttons ("Z" and "B") to play this game
2)I was trying to connect growing process and level-up process and to think a little about, what does it actualy mean to be an adult.

It is very short, It won't take you more than 5-10 minutes.
Hope, that you will be able to play it without any problems

Please, vote for the game here
