Alright, I played the game. Here's the critical review you've all been rating for.
GRAPHICS: 2/5
Whilst the aesthetic is impressively realistic, I find there is no real visual style for the game to call it's own. I can just play CoD X if I wanted real-life graphics- be an indie game goddamnit. Pixel art would of been something new and interesting, for example.
SOUND: 1/5
There are no sound of effects from the game per-say, only the sounds of other players. This is very lazy work from the developers. They could of even used one of those hippy sound generators, but nah they're too good for that.
GAMEPLAY: 2/5
Kill the Kraken is interesting in that you are expected to go out and find friends to play with. I find it absolutely disgraceful when developers expect us - kids on their ass infront of their computers - to play their co-op rubbish. I had no friends so I just ended up waving some foam stick around. It was actually kinda fun and I found myself at the end of the day learning more about me as a person, so kudos to James here. However that's just my personal experience and I speak for the people so I shall omit that experience.
STORY: 1/5
No story either, just some dialogue to read and a weird Kraken theme, and I guess that's fine. But I gotta make a rating for this category yaknow, coz the site forced me to.
INTERFACE: 0/5
There is nothing here. This is literally worse than a Bethesda game. With no mod support. And that's saying something.
OVERALL: 5/5
Whilst I am very harsh to this creation, I think the developer is emotionally unstable and needs my support. If I downrate this game who knows what will happen- I could ruin indie gaming forever. And so, I rank this game with the best of GameJolt. That is, every game. Because all games are special. #altgames
Good, but I have one complaint about this.
There's a certain game breaking glitch where if no one doesn't have any friends to play with at the time, they'll end up playing by themselves.
Pls fix.
OUTSIDE??? never heard of that server
Great, Now I need two things: Friends AND pool noodles.
what engine did you use
Kill the Kraken V1.2
Pool noodles, throwing socks, basket poles, and hula-hoops come together in one fierce game: Kill the Kraken! A fast paced asymmetric-team field game for 8 to 14 players, Kill the Kraken! is inspired by Humans versus Zombies and simulates a humans versus monster scenario. But rather than pitting human players against a horde of Zombies, Kill the Kraken! pits them against a single giant enemy. One team takes on the role of the Kraken, all connected by yarn and running rampant with pool noodles. The other team plays as the humans, tasked with defeating the Kraken via throwing socks. The rules are easy to understand, even by non-gamers and as a round of Kill the Kraken! lasts between 5 to 15 minutes, it provides a quick fun field experience.
