What do you think?

Once I opened the title screen I was already swept with feelings of nostalgia, as it reminded me of my favorite game; but as the background faded into lighter colors and the ethereal music started playing, my favorite game was forgotten and I dove into Mary Woke Up Today, a new experience that drew me in with its marvelous atmosphere in an instant.
The combination of music, the sparse interior and mary's translucent and hazy form already gave me a hint that this might not be reality, but only a fragment of her dream's imagination. A quite tame one, at the beginning.
The walk in the park, encountering mary's grandmother seemed serene at first, too, but the further the dialogue continued, the more I started to realize there might be more behind it. I enjoyed how the relationship between Mary and her grandmother appeared to be a little strained, considering Mary's optional answers.

I don't want to spoil everyone's fun, so I won't get into detail with what happens next. Let it be said that I found the atmosphere rather unsettling at one point, and wanted it all to end - once again, I felt so immersed, this game's ambience managed to make me feel more unsettled than barely any other games. It felt, despite being a dream, quite real.

The somber realization at the end was a wake-up call for myself, too. And I, as well as probably many other people do, share the same fear Mary does.

All in all, Mary Woke Up Today is an incredibly well-made game and succeeds with what I find one of the most important aspects of videogames: atmosphere, and what lies really behind the narrative. While the graphics may be simple, they are still rendered beautifully, conveying the feeling and depth of this experience.

Thank you Sarah for making such a stunning game!

This was lovely (in an eerie, unsettling way of course). I really liked the rotoscoped animations and the music set the tone really well! The color shift before the class reunion was great - really jarring. And a few of the dialog choices made me laugh out loud. Great work! :D

i wont lie, this game was weird. But I kinda enjoyed it, even though I was kinda confused?? I liked the art style, even though my game was a bit too bright. It was still fun to explore the characters mind.

Art and music are fantastic, and the story is good too. One thing that could use a little work is the sprite animation for main character. Overall, great game! I felt very drawn in.

MARY WOKE UP TODAY is a game about false awakening.

Mary can't wake up. She's trapped. Or is she?
