Nolok captures Penny, but this time, the levels are different, and it's kind of nostalgic.


Help Needed (with levels)

Since there's planned to be more than 100 levels (because every world has 20+ levels), I will need some help with the levels. Check the level part of this tutorial here: https://github.com/PepperTux/peppertux-haxe/wiki/How-To-Add-New-Things


There's 1 version now, and it's the HaxeFlixel version.


Controls

Press left / A or right / D to move left or right, press up / space / W to jump, control is the action key (to hold Iceblocks and to shoot projectiles at enemies with the flower power-ups, which is currently only the fire flower) and if I missed any, please tell me.


Story

The same story as SuperTux, basically, Tux goes to a picnic with Penny, but Nolok attacks and captures Penny, leaving just a note telling Tux that he doesn't stand a chance at getting Penny back, so Tux goes forward to Nolok's Icy Island castle, hoping that Nolok and Penny would be there.


The Purpose Of This

PepperTux is meant to be like SuperTux 0.3.5a (unfortunately without slopes). This fangame will have milestones where new worlds would be added. First milestone would be World 1, second milestone would be World 2, and I think you get the idea.

There's really no purpose, just here for fun.

This isn't meant to be "finished SuperTux before SuperTux Team does it", although it is kind of that, it's meant to be a fun little "what if" question, like what if old SuperTux had the new worlds and even a Desert world? (Secret Desert, as it's a secret world)

Also, the worldmaps are different now.

The levels are also replaced with new ones.

And there's no slopes, unfortunately. The only way HaxeFlixel supports slopes is if FlxTilemapExt is being used, but with a solid layer in Tiled having the collision for the level, that's impossible.

Mild Cartoon Violence

For now, I'll have to go back to using HaxeFlixel, which means level height will likely be limited to 23 (as the new game window size will be 1280x736) but there will be some SuperTux Milestone 2 features.

This is what happens when I try to run the game (I deleted the GroundDetection node, and that node stops the crashing but makes Snowball act like Smartball)

(This screenshot was taken on Godot 4.4.1 but happens on Godot 4.5.1 so it's not a new or old bug)

If I do go back to using HaxeFlixel, it's unfortunately likely that level height will have to be limited.

Adding a Snowball, then adding a Mrs Snowball / Smartball that doesn't work properly, then adding a Vicious Ivy breaks the Snowball, somehow makes Snowball use Smartball's code without showing that in the editor thing???

If the game has no thumbnail, it's likely because I'm trying to change it but GameJolt's servers are not good at the time of me changing it.

(I'm trying to change it to be the new version of the PepperTux logo)

The SuperTux Milestone 1-like version of PepperTux will be named MileTux (The word mile was chosen because of the word "Milestone"). Again, it's not gonna be the main focus if the 0.3.3 to 0.5.1 option is chosen.

The Milestone 1-like version of PepperTux (separate from the 0.3.3 to 0.5.1-like PepperTux) doesn't have a name yet but I think I should name it some other type of food (specifically a fruit or vegetable)

For some reason I really want to make both versions of PepperTux (a Milestone 1-like version and a 0.3.3 to 0.5.1-like version) so whichever version is not chosen in the poll will still be made, but won't be the main focus.
