War Charades

War Charades is a very early stage work-in-progress attempt of mine to learn how to make games in Game Maker.

War Charades is a sidescrolling wave based fighter in which you, the stunning moustache'd protagonist, are completely invincible. However, your companion, a cloaked shadowy figure, is not. What's worse, she's the one that enemies are going after! Defend her from hordes of gruesome enemies!

Controls:
Left and right arrow keys to walk
Spacebar to jump
W to swing your sword
S to whistle, causing your companion to turn and face you
A to make your companion sing, stunning enemies
ESC to pause
R to restart the game (you must press this upon losing)

Featuring saved progress and settings!

Enemy attacks do not damage you, but they will knock you back- watch out for being flung away from your friend!

The game is in a very early stage, so there isn't a ton of content yet, but I am actively adding to it!

What's done so far:
A rudimentary menu
Seven levels
Royalty free sound effects are implemented
A variety of enemy types

What to do:
More enemy types, interface improvements, more abilities, and tons more!
Add more secrets to the ones already in the game!
