10th day of making the demo


I'll start making devlogs again, 1 every day, as now that I'm working on something concrete, I have things to say again.

During the nine first days, I did:

The title screen, although I'll probably do it again before publishing.

I redid the menu

I've completely redone all the charsets that will appear in the demo, as well as the maps to remove the pixel art, because it took me 8 years of development to understand that I prefer drawings.

I've also redesigned all the enemies you encounter on the map to update them, as my style has changed from the first time I drew them. Here are a few examples:

And I've reworked the combat animations and attacks too.

From now on, everyone has a faceset, even the NPCs.

I've partially rewritten most of the scenes that will be in the demo.

Today, Thursday 24th, I've started sketching the map of Mount Meow, the first area of the game.

And I did the whole display of the new item screen

Now that everything is done, I'll make 5 demos, going further and further into the story, until I think everything is functional enough and I can finally translate the game and release a beta.

However, I will only release the first demo in english on GameJolt before the finished game, the other four will remain in French, and I'll have them tested by relatives.

Dropping a little niew

Here's a peaceful little forest scene for this #screenshotsaturday, from the beginning of the game.

I have added rewards for quests so that villagers can give you something in return for your hard work helping them. 🥳

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
