Back so soon with more news? Surprisingly, yes!
I won't have to worry about my laptop dying on me anymore (because it is plugged in, and we all know how gaming laptop batteries absolutely suck unplugged), so I'll try to go somewhat more into detail, but also keeping myself from straight up dropping spoilers.
Anyways, let's get into the news:
What's with the post's image?
That image right there is actually the Cube hand puppet, unlockable from completing the Custom Night challenges! Might not seem special, but, to be honest, a redesign of the plushies was long overdue. Now, with CDH1 Reopened, I redrew every plushie design to match the new look and feel going forward. Don't expect me to do that for every single game, because if it just so happened that I used the same prize designs since CDH1-CDH2, some of these are probably going to remain the same, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Will there be any more prizes?
Besides the plushies and Classic skins, there will be no more prizes added, and that's mostly a good thing. Everytime I would think of prizes, it would be plushies and nothing else afterwards. When it came time to fill in the missing unlockables, I always ran out of ideas on what to put in, which is why some prizes in the games are, well, underwhelming.
So, going forward (probably), I will not be adding unlockable prizes that feel underwhelming, rushed, redundant, etc.
Why aren't you making the game to be in a 4:3 aspect ratio like the original?
Not going to lie, I actually considered that idea. However, as funny as it would have been, I quickly scrapped that idea in favor of more useable screen space and to avoid everything feeling cramped.
Will there be more easter eggs?
Probably, I'm not sure. Never really done proper easter eggs besides references to the games or any other stuff. I'll take a look and see what other easter eggs I can put in, but whether I will actually implement it or not is to be taken with a grain of salt.
Jynxi Jester was an easter egg character, and he made his debut in CDH: The Pricklz.
Will other easter egg characters also become a part of the game's story?
Sorry to say this, but after the release of CDH2 (and during development of CDH: The Pricklz), I decided that I won't be adding any easter egg characters into the main story going forward.
While it's fun including references in the games, implementing them into the storyline can quickly spiral into an endless loop of expectations (reference one character, the character's creator asks for them to be added, fans ask for their easter egg characters to be added, then the cycle repeats). I want to keep the story and characters focused and consistent with the original vision of the storyline (giving the main cast room to grow without the pressure of turning fan content into canon).
With that being said, I still appreciate all the creativity you all bring and the stories your characters tell, it genuinely inspires me! But, from here on out, easter egg characters will stay as just that: fun, optional nods, not official parts of the story.
Hey, who knows, maybe one day I may like an easter egg so much it makes me say: "You know what? Why not. I'll add them in".
What's the status on the idea of achievements?
...Remember when I said "I'm not even sure whether the idea may be scrapped or not"?
Funnily enough, it's coded in. Pop-ups work properly (still testing it though). All the achievements coded in (well, except one, but I am basically done).
So, the status: yes
Soo... GameJole API link?? :>
No. I already said that I have no idea where to begin with the GameJolt API.
Can you reveal one mechanic that we can expect?
Alright, sure. Everyone, say hello to:
Doors! You press a red button to close it, and press it again to open it! It blocks off characters from entering the office! Be careful though! Keeping them closed drains power!
That's all for today!
