3/6/2023 // THE BIG ONE [[Progress Update]]

First one in a while, whew. We've got quite a bit to go over! Let's start with the simple things first, as we mentioned last time, the story was re-written, and now has a new protagonist, with the soul trait of bravery!

The Protagonist - "EINAR"

Unlike the protagonist of UNDERTALE, they willingly entered the UNDERGROUND, after hearing of rumors of mysterious creatures residing deep inside of Mt. Ebbot- they'll soon come to realize that this may not have been his brightest idea, but they will have to stay courageous in order to survive their journey.

(Please note: some of them have not been uploaded to SoundCloud just yet! I'm working on the thumbnails. there's also plans to upload the soundtrack to YouTube in the future- so keep an eye out for that)

Coming clean about the story changes

And now, what changes have been made to the story exactly- to put it simply, this originally took place in an entirely separate universe from UNDERTALE, and would've followed a fairly traditional approach to UNDERFELL, but I really wanted to do something more creative with the storyline.

The story now takes place after the events of the "Exiled Queen" neutral route ending in UNDERTALE, meaning it's a hybrid universe as opposed to entirely alternate, everything still goes wrong- horribly wrong, as always does with the UNDERFELL universe, but you'll soon see exactly how.

Programming

We've made significant changes to the save and dialog UI, inspired by Primus!Fell and TS!Underswap, in addition to this-

We implemented a new mechanic that acts as a "Special Dodge" for the player- when in use, it gives the player a large speed boost and temporary invincibility, however, don't over use it, either! it runs off of a meter and when drained, you have to wait a couple of turns for it to refill!

In addition, we've been hard at work on the functionality for the Neglected Tunnels, including implementing puzzles, locations, and dialogue!

We gave you sneak peek at the start of this devlog with the introduction of Einar, our protagonist, drawn by @JMaster209 but that's not all!

We have a tile set for the Neglected Tunnels, the Ruins after a decades worth of neglect and decay, also we have moved away from using the TG!Underfell name in favor of Gritfell, largely for the sake of simplification, so we have a new logo, as seen on our banner, and in the beginning of this post- it was created by @souptaels as well ^^ there's more to show off in the form of art, but I'd like to save that for a future devlog, unlike this one, the next one isn't actually that far off, we are aiming to have it out either by end of this month or the start of the next one.

Right then! listed below is an estimate of our estimated progress, this will be divided between Areas/Rooms, Art, Writing, Programming and Music
