Mark of Mona

A 1P story mode isn't the only thing we're planning for the 'Mark of Mona' demo! We've created an early-stage Quick Battle system for local battles against the CPU or a second player, with 5 playable characters!

Placeholder graphics, but more to come!

We've finalised the designs and internal art for Kriss, Vinneas and Boz: three major characters in the demo's story mode, and all playable characters in Quick Battle! Burn away the enemy as Kriss, drain their power as Vinneas & leave them bleeding as Boz!

This project is starting to come together! Thanks to the efforts of our artist (SGTSemiSauce) and the support of Naninovel, we finally have fully-formed visual novel scenes coming together! Here we see a royal conflict brewing between Elyssia and Algys!

What a glow-up! Moving on their concepts, Zora and Uriel have been finalised and inserted into the internal build! Uriel is a legendary hero and wielder of the magic sword Titansbane, and Zora is the trustworthy, reliable supervisor of the dragon farm!

We're giving our puzzle battle a graphical overhaul! We've completely revamped the puzzle tiles (among other things) to make them more visually distinguishable! We've also removed the Gambit feature and applied additional effects to most regular attacks!

Been working on a new battle intro sequence AND a battle voice line system all day today - ready to bring some fresh battle content with voice acting and all sorts to the table!

Keep an eye on your blocks! If they exceed the top of your grid, the Overflow damage could be devastating! Getting hit by your opponent’s attacks is certainly painful in a Magic Battle, but your own ignorance can hurt yourself just as much!

New attack animations made by Dusky! Every character in 'Mark of Mona' has a number of attacks that are accompanied by a dazzling animation to play over the opponent's grid to distract them during battle. These are both part of Mavyn's Snowflake Motif!

Opponent AI system! Very basic right now, but we've programmed an AI designed to match tiles, use attacks and try to defeat you in puzzle battles! Needs a lot of improving and educating, but now there is an actual CPU opponent in the game!

We've been experimenting with the way we set up 'location' scenes in 'Mark of Mona'! By creating a custom text printer and custom UI features, we've created a means to lay out the characters in a location as clickable buttons for interaction and progress!

We've been updating the visuals of the 'Mark of Mona' Puzzle Battle scene to make it look more engaging and fleshed out. We're working hard on the game's story mode to boot - we've now made Vinneas a functional opponent in-game! Also, new cover wallpaper!
