Hey! Hi everyone, I know it’s been a long time. Maybe you even forgot this game existed, and you know what? I honestly don’t blame you at all. I know the silence has been pretty big since the last update for the original game, but let me catch you up on what’s been happening behind the scenes.
It’s been 2 years since then, and on a personal level, things have been pretty rough. I’m not going to go too deep into details, but you can probably imagine it’s been a mix of studies and technical difficulties.
Almost 2 years ago, my laptop’s hard drive got damaged. Because of that, a lot of future content was lost, along with other projects unrelated to Slendytubbies. It was a really hard hit, because it wasn’t just the projects that were gone, but also all the time and dedication I had put into them.
For a long time, it really discouraged me from continuing to make games. But in the end, I changed my mind about canceling S2D Revolution, because like probably some of you, working on this game has helped me a lot emotionally, and it also brought me together with many friends thanks to, simply, S2D Revolution. And to anyone who supported the game or enjoyed it even after everything that happened, you are part of this game too, and I truly appreciate the fact that you enjoyed it despite its flaws!
Now you’re probably wondering, if no project files or source code were recovered, how are you going to keep making the game? Well, this is the best part of the announcement!
If you noticed, at the beginning of this blog I said “the original game,” and that means that even though the Game Maker version of S2D Revolution is gone, it’s only because it’s making way for its best version yet.
Slendytubbies 2D Revolution: Gally’s Collection
You probably wondered what those strange screenshots I posted on the page about a multiplayer mode were supposed to mean. Well, they were actually the prototype for this new game! This version will focus on what players wanted the most from the original game,
Now, why is it called “Gally’s Collection”? Well, it’s simple, not only is it a remake of the classic game, but I also plan to include “S2DR Dipsy’s Workshop” in it as well, and yes, online too (I’m being completely serious). But keep this in mind, this also means reworking, or maybe even removing, certain things from the original game, because this new vision is focused on making the game lighter, more optimized, and easier for everyone to understand. Since this is now being built as an online game instead of a single-player one, it changes everything completely.
Because of that, I also have another piece of news for those of you who want to follow the development more closely, I’m working on a new temporary Discord server where I can receive feedback, bug reports, or just talk with you all and answer questions. I’m going to be very active during this stage, because I want this game, which has helped me so much emotionally, to turn out as good as possible for everyone!
I’ll also be creating the GameJolt page within the next few days. Right now I’m finishing an alpha that includes Collect, Versus, and Texture Packs, with the goal of testing the servers and also the texture pack system I mentioned before.
This is going to be really exciting, and I seriously can’t wait for you all to see it. Stay tuned, because this coming week is going to be huge!
And most of all, thank you so much for still being here with me after all these years. Happy 5 years of Slendytubbies 2D Revolution!
