These three videos I labeled aren't just a cry for help; It's a call to action. I'm using GameJolt because this is the only site I can reach out to other communities about this situation.
I'm fine if it gets taken off by a GameJolt community or whatever, but this needs to be addressed. (serious shit)
Roblox sent a cease and desist letter to a YouTuber named Schlep. The guy who catches predators on Roblox and puts them in jail thanks to collaborative help. He is a vigilante who protects kids from predators on Roblox, while the site itself ignores all the reports of inappropriate behavior on their platform, but instead, Roblox banned all of his accounts and sent a cease and desist letter threatening to sue Schlep for just protecting children?? Watch the first video for more context. Either Roblox is hiding something twisted or trying to protect its reputation for the sake of money.
For the sake of greed and power, and that brings me to YouTube. YouTube is adding another system that "protects kids," and that's bringing AI to track the account user's age by monitoring their video history. If you are over 18, and watched videos like Pokémon or Tom and Jerry for nostalgia's sake, but when you are trying to watch something from Adult Swim, you can't. YouTube is blocking the video because the system thinks they're under 18. Here's the twist: for the AI to stop bothering you, you are forced to give YouTube/Google your ID and personal information, which is messed up because what happens if the AI gets hacked, and the hackers grab the user's ID and personal information to do whatever the hell they want. YouTube allows bots and AI to manage the entire platform because the staff are too lazy to do their jobs.
I know what you're thinking: these situations are catastrophic, and it feels like we're living in a dystopian world, or worse. That's why I made this post, because we can't let the eyes of corporate greed and power control what the internet is, and was always about. The internet used to be an escape from reality, where people thime to take a break from modern TV or found communities that understood them. Since the pandemic hit, a WHOLE LOTTA STUFF CHANGED, or the websites just got bigger and wanted to bring out new things for people to stay longer because social media companies are too desperate for attention and people's pockets, but they forgot to hear the voices of other consumers who are trying to make the platforms a better place. Hell yeah, I'm terrified for what the future holds for the internet. I grew up with it just like my generation, and now I want to do my littlest things to protect it. Do what you can to spread this information everywhere so that our voices will finally be heard. Who knows if a social media platform could finally hear us, but we can only do our best to spread this information across. Before things get worse from here.
Do whatever you can to protest it peacefully. All you have to do is change your profile picture to a clippy on YouTube, and that would be enough, or talk about it on other social media platforms like I'm doing here. Address it on Discord, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
Hope this message reaches out to a lot of people.
Good luck!
