A much needed FNAC 4 update

It’s already 2020! What happened there??

Let me preface this by saying I have a tendency to ramble when making these update posts, so I’ll try to keep it (relatively) short this time around. So here’s a quick Q&A for some common questions I’ve been receiving:

Q: Is FNAC 4 really dead?

A: no

I hope I’ve been able to answer some of the questions that were maybe lingering on some of your minds :P

I originally announced the game almost 2 years ago, and there are only two reasons that it isn’t out yet: I’m insanely passionate about making this game as perfect as I can, and I am only one person with a life, studying university, among other things. Believe it or not, my daily routine doesn’t actually consist of getting out of the bed, working on FNAC 4, and going back to bed.

However that actually used to almost be the case, during the first 8-10 months of development. The issue back then was that I was running out of ideas, I was almost ending up in a loop between the drawing board and the workshop like Gromit rapidly assembling the train track in front of the train while driving on it. That’s NOT a very efficient workflow, unless you’re lucky and get all the good ideas right out of the gate.

But yeah anyway, that’s literally why I had to take a step back, and both fill in all the game’s holes with some grade A planning, and simultaneously reevaluate some of the rather rushed ideas I had begun to make before I realized what path I was turning towards.

And two years ago I wouldn’t necessarily have counted on this being a valid strategy, especially not for this long. But that’s because I wasn’t entirely sure that the FNAF community itself would continue to be thriving all the way in the futuristic year of 2020! This community is only nearing 6 years old, but for a game franchise that burst into popularity as quickly as it did, that’s pretty amazing! That, and of course the fact that tons of sub-communities for fan-projects have grown over the years as well.

Having the game in the planning stages has of course also allowed me to work more practically on other stuff, like Chef Wanted, Five Nights at Candy’s Remastered, POPGOES Arcade 2020 Edition, among some other more secret things! And this has been absolutely amazing to do, as I’ve already learned a ton more about game development than I would have otherwise been able to. It’s better than if I had just locked myself in my apartment and drawn sketches and written down ideas for two years. Now those things I can already do in the spare time that I have where it’s impossible for me to do practical work (e.g. times I’m not at my computer, which believe it or not, do occur!) This multitasking is my current strategy, and it’s worked out fantastically for this long. I’m still super excited about FNAC 4, if you didn’t believe me the other 17 times I’ve stated this already :P

And I just caught myself rambling! Look at how good I am!

Anyway what I actually wanted to say is, I realize that it’s probably only very few FNAC fans that have a complete overview of the “FNAC 4 history” at this point, with my sporadic teasers (which I initially objected to creating at all) and infrequent updates. I really wanted to wait with creating a game page until the trailer release, but a game page is probably a superb place to actually put everything FNAC 4 related from now on, and for fans to focus on. So that’s what’s happening! Here's the page, and don't forget!

Here’s a little update archive for anyone feeling like they were missing out (all on reddit up till now):

An infected room from the second part of Cybel ! Are you up for some cleansing?

If you have more of an acquired taste, the restaurants in Niravasi have you covered! Maybe skip the salad bar, though.
