A New Demo is Up

Gnome More Wars demo 2.0 is now up and running!
Check it out guys and give me some feedback.

What’s New:

  • Gnomes can now be shot down. Shooting parachutes just gives extra points

  • A third map has been added (Kodama Port), along with two thematic Gnome types: Pirate Captain and Buccaneer gnomes

  • Sand Gnome added as a special enemy type for the Desert Hideout map

  • Gnome Tinker added as a special enemy type for the Freija’s Garden map

  • Added map selection before starting the game

  • Added a tutorial for basic game controls

What needs to be done:

  • Leaderboards

  • Highscore recording

  • Some sort of summary screen that would show the enemy count you successfully shot down

  • Two more maps to complete a set of five, each with their special enemy type

I thought I had move on...but Google Play warned me to update my app to support the latest Android version or else it would be taken down. Now I have new gameplay ideas so I decided to make another update. Coming to Gamejolt soon!

Update 1.1.8c is out now. With this I have optimized the game to take up around 300mb of RAM. Hopefully this eliminates all those ANRs and crashes! Check it out: https://tinyurl.com/2s43rhk8

Combat test with the Player Assist system. It can get frantic! #gamedev #screenshotsaturday #madewithunity

Title Screen Here’s the new title screen for the game. It shows a bunch of gnomes stealing from your barn! I think this gives the player a sneak peek of the gameplay. Also it’s better than a static drawing, in my opinion.

Concept design for the Dark Forest level. #gamedev

Made some adjustments to the boss AI so that the fight is more strategic, less spammy. This is meant to be the first boss encounter. What do you guys think?

Started prototyping the Player Assist feature. With a press of a button you can summon party members that will perform their special attacks. I know it looks like Ender Lillies but my inspiration was the Marvel vs Capcom games.

I'm starting on a new level (Dark Forest), but before I dress it up I need to make sure it plays good, so I start by laying out the paths using wireframe tilesets. #gamedev

War Room Redux After gathering some feedback about the War Room mockup I made, here’s an updated one. The background is no longer a placeholder, and I removed the “girl” character…it takes away from the scene.

Here's to hoping 2021 will be much better than 2020. Happy New Year!
