I remember what you did. They remember too. You were the reason that we were all there. It happened because of you. You can't tell anyone. Why would you? It is your fault.
You're the reason whitebun cancelled his fnaw 3 review.
Well, uh that was something... OH YEAH PART 3 ehem, sup fellow...
Actually no, let's start this already. Also yes fnaw retrospective died, so sad.
Something really neat is that just like in fnaf 4, the game shows you this screen reminding you that OH YEAH, fnaf 4 gotta get those headphones.
and as usual we have our actually good menu
Alright, so what's the game even about Unlike fnac 2 this is a prequel to everything. This game was originally supposed to be the finale to the series.
But then fnac 4 became a thing, then fnac R, then the Fanverse, then Fur, and everything else.
Let's start this already.
We hit New Game and someone with white text starts talking to us.
How are you feeling today? It has been two weeks. I understand that it was a very traumatic experience, but luckily your brother wasn't seriously hurt. You have to remember. They weren't real. They were just machines. They are not capable of harming anyone, what happened was just an accident, he was just....broken. But it's ok now. Your safe here. You remember them from the theater?
Ah, yes the old one were you and your father went to a year ago. right? Your father has told me about what happened while you were there. You got separated from each other that day when the incident happened.
Have you still had nightmares since we last met? Were they about those monster you drew for me? You're a very creative girl, but you can't let your fears takes control of your imagination. In order for your nightmares to end, you have to face your fears. You have to face the monsters. Show them you're not afraid. Do you Understand? It's the only way.
we spawn in our bedroom
As of now we can't do a whole lot. We have our shitty bed, a hallway leading to Hell, and an origami cat. All we can do is talk to him.
The origami cat acts as a much better version of the Fredbear plushie from FnaF 4.
He tells us we're dreaming right now and we're in our old house before we moved. We can't remember crap about this place. The cat mentions how we've been having a lot of nightmares recently, so he gives us an epic hint.
A few years ago we couldn't sleep so our dad gave us a tape player to calm us down and it worked so now we gotta go to the super scary hallway to get it back.
The hallway leads us to the Deepscape where our deepest memories are. This place is extremely important both for 100%ing the game and understanding the lore.
The origami cat can send us back to our bed room but only if we're on the path, not the dark places where the shadows lurk.
On our way to get the tape, we find a news paper and read it.
Basically, after the incident at the New Rat and Cat Theater, the robots were sent back to Rowboatics Inc. They're gonna make new robots for a newer location.
After wandering around some more, we find the tape player and a video game cartridge.
now we can go back to our bed and start the night
and man what a bedroom
I really like all the references here the jackseptic eyes, the Markiplier plushie, the Dawko puppet, the smike plush, and plushies of Rachel Dug and Popgoes on the right side.
Okay, so the game is obviously inspired by FnaF 4. It's a dream we're in a bedroom. we're being haunted by nightmares, but that's where the similarities end. This game, gameplay wise, is completely different from FnaF 4.
First, the tape.
This thing's super important. We'll have to use this thing to speed up time. It's not required to beat the night but beating them without it takes like 13 minutes, so #tapeteam4ever.
Now time to talk about the game's main character. The big boy himself, Monster Rat
I mean look at him. He'll shove 10 long candy plushies up your ass till you're dead, dead as hell
Okay, so how does he work?
He's a much tougher and much more complex character compared to a lot of other characters.
Your main task is to keep him out of the room for as long as possible.
He can appear at the door, the middle closet, and the closet on the right.
So, what to do if he gets to the bedroom
When he gets inside you NEED to keep hovering your flashlight over his eyes. He'll keep changing his position, trying to fuck you over. So watch out for that. Eventually, he'll hide under the bed, so you go under the bed to find him.
When you find him, get back up and stare at the opposite side for a few seconds till Monster Rat climbs back up.
Hold the light at his face one last time, and he'll escape back outside.
Yep, that was his entire mechanic, which also ends night 1.
Just like the previous game, we have post-night content
We play as a little Mary wondering around the theater.
These parts are really cool because they help with the world-building a lot.
If we go up to the stage, we get the show schedule.
Monday is about a tree, Tuesday's the cat's birthday, Wednesday's picnic, Thursday's Vinnie's stupid dumb lost toy, and Friday's a surprise.
The next room is gasp, it's the RAT
The shows gonna start in a few minutes so he asks if we wanna play hide and seek which we agree we can find anywhere we want but he'll always catch us.
Night 2 time
We now have a dresser, cool. Origami doesn't have anything all that interesting so, Deepcape time
If we continue going to the left, we'll find this rock telling us to go to North.
From now on the Deepcape is no longer safe and we're being haunted down by the shadows. The main threat being Shadow Rat.
Keep going North till you find another path. Follow it, and you'll have the second cartridge.
Time for night 2 ... oh wait, it's the same as night 1!
The post-night is basically the same with a few more kids, and the cat is here, instead of the Rat.
He asks us for hide and seek; we agree, and he gets us.
Night 3 time. We now have a toy box and a closet.
Origami has actual important news for us: the Monster Cat is active now. He can appear at either the very end of the right side or left side of the bed. Luckily, the flashlight works on him.
deepscape time. The Shadow Cat is active now.
There's a timer on the top now. If we're out of the path, when it reaches zero, the Cat will instantly kill you.
As usual we wonder around some more. We get another game cartridge and 3 newspapers. The newspapers are just advertisement for the theater, nothing special. So, Night 3 time.
This night, the Monster Cat is active. I know, big shocker.
His mechanic is much simpler compared to the Rat.
Just like Origami said, he'll appear at the end of each side of the bed. Just hold the light on him till he leaves, lol.
Yeah, uh, that's literally it.
I think it's pretty fair to say he has the worst mechanic in the entire series, which is a huge shame cause he has a cool design and in the game files there are a lot of unused assets that suggest he might've acted like rat originally.
Oh, well night 3, post game time.
The Puppeteer is here now.
He talks a bit about his puppet Vinnie and how we can probably see it after the show.
We meet the Rat again and gotta play hide and seek again.
Night 4 time.
Yoooooooooooooo, look drawing table This is so fucking awesome, dude
Origami is giving us emotional support as usual, for being a good girl, and remembering the Deep Five Nights at Candy's 3 lore.
Deepscape time
We now have these tree things around the place, and the Shadow Cat's timer has been lowered to 2 minutes, great.
We find a newspaper about a horror movie called "Psychopath" breaking box office records, and how the main character absolutely nailed it at acting, huh...
We'll eventually reach a place telling us to follow the Dream Trees, which we do, getting us to the forth game cartridge.
Night 4 doesn't change anything, so post night it is.
One of the kids near the bathroom says that the Rat and Cat have actual real names.
She thinks cat's names is Carl and rats name is Roger because he sounds like a Roger to her, but she thinks that their names could rhyme together, just like how Rat and Cat rhyme.
We find the boy again and gotta do the hide and seeky.
night 5 time YEAH
yay we got photos now
Origami tells us that tonight's the final night before we meet him, our therapist, should finally have a solution to these nightmares. Just one more time digging around in the Deepscape.
shadow cats timer is now 1 minute and 30 seconds and there's this 0 thing to the right
As usual, we find a new newspaper. The actors in the theater died. One of them was drunk as hell and strangled the other guy to death.
We find another news article. It says that the first actor died from asphyxiation, and the other died from hitting the back of his head on the edge of the table he could see the entire time before he bled out and died, Jesus...
After wondering around some more, we find the last cartridge, just uh, pretend that it's there and I already didn't get it.
Night 5 is the same thing but harder, so. Post night time again.
Today's the day of a surprise show, and a lot of kiddins have shown up I mean, look at how hyped they are
To try to calm the kiddins down, the Rat decides to play hide and seek with them
So we gotta hide but all the other kids have taken everywhere else.
So we wander around for a bit till we see the Cat leave one of the super important employee's only door open.
so we go in
Oh hey look it's the depressed boy! There's a ton to interact with in this room.
In the trash can, there are two pictures of a kid with the Cat and The Puppeteer titled "best friends". Well, uh, that's certainly depressing.
There's a diploma on the wall for acting and a script for today's show.
It reveals that Cats name is Candy Candy the Cat, making him the oldest version of the character if the real names of the Rat and Cat rhyme too does that mean Rats names is randy.
randy... oh yeah gotta hide.
we hide in the closet after a while the rat man shows up
and then the puppeteer shows up
The Puppeteer tells Rat he can't show up cause he's drunk.
The Rat tells him to relax he only had a few drinks.
The Puppeteer asks him what the fuck hell would happen if one of the parents found out he was drunk? Telling him to think of their careers and the kiddins.
The Rat starts getting angry, telling Puppet Man that the Kiddins love him and he's the most popular character.
The Puppeteer is having none of this bullshit, and tells the Rat to take the suit off and go home.
He tries to take the Rat's head off, which causes him to get even more mad and starts strangling the Puppeteer.
For self defense, the Puppeteer pushes the Rat away, the Rat loses balance, and hits his head on the table, causing him to bleed and die.
The Puppeteer thinks the Rat is just trolling at first, but realizes that he's dead as hell, and the Cat enters.
The Puppeteer tells the Cat what happened, the Cat believes it as an honest mistake but decides that it's for the best to tell the cops.
The Puppeteer tries to say that Rat was always an alcoholic, and they should just tell the cops he was so drunk he accidentally killed himself.
But Cat still decides to call the cops trying to tell the truth, as a last ditch effort, Puppet Man starts strangling Cat slowly killing him.
The Puppeteer picks up the phone and tells the cops to come over cause his coworkers "killed themselves", the show obviously gets cancelled and he evacuates everyone except Mary, who's still in the closet.
Fastforward to a year later, Mary told everything she could remember about the incident to her therapist. The therapist reassures her that it wasn't her fault in the slightest, and that the Puppeteer just did it because he was selfish. The therapist asks Mary if she could describe what the room looked like before it all fades, and we get this screen.
The therapist got in contact with the cops telling them about Mary's story, completely fucking over the Puppeteer.
It's time for the final night. Time to confront a problem THE problem.
Why did you return here?
The secret's out.
The weight of your guilt has been erased.
So why did you return here?
I guess you wanted to confront the problem.
Me... the problem.
I didn't realize what I had done until I was in my bed, about to sleep.
I was never able to think clearly again.
I don't even know if it still would've happened, if you hadn't been there.
But you were there, you saw it all.
And now, the truth has come out...
And my life ends.
It will never be like before...
I had everything...
And then you took it away.
You don't get to walk away from what you've done to me.
You've ruined my life.
And now I will make sure...
YOU'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO SLEEP AGAIN
On the final night, the monster behind it all comes to get his revenge.
Vinnie acts as a much much MUCH harder version of Monster Rat,
he still follows the same mechanic of trying to keep him out of the room for as long as possible, but with a few twists.
When in the room, Vinnie gets hit in the head with a copy of Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts
and does an Xbox 360 all over the room.
Making it so that you always have to babysit his ass and predict where he goes next. AND, whenever he feels like it, he can just jump over to another section of the room to fuck you over.
Now, you might say this bitch is impossible, how the hell am I supposed to beat his ass?
Well, here are some tips
As I said before he can do a full 360 everywhere and has around ten points where he stops, letting you shine at him. ALWAYS pay attention to his movements, and predict where he'll go next.
He will move around the place a total of 3-5 times.
ONLY rewind/play the tape when you've sent him back. If you do this while he still hasn't attacked, he'll attack when you get back and ruin your life.
WEAR HEADPHONES
Try to save up as much time as possible by keep sending him back. If you don't pay attention and keep letting him in over and over again, you might start to get stressed and nervous.which causes him to easily fuck you over.
Despite all that, the night never feels unfair. Every time you die, you know it's your fault, because you weren't careful enough, or got too stressed for being a goofy goober.
I love this night so much it's still to this day the best "final boss" night in any fangame The only thing that comes even remotely close is the Corpse boss fight in Five Nights To Remember.
Vinnies design is amazing. It's like if every single negative emotion ever combined together to create this thing.
The horrible sounds he makes throughout the night sound like he's having a mental breakdown the entire time he's trying to attack you.
I love the fact when he leaves the room, he gets carried away by puppet strings.
man what an amazing night i sure do hope there isn't a piece of shit recode that completely ruins it and makes it stupidly difficult for the sake of being hard and nothing else
...............post night time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mary gets out of the closet crying her eyes out
Mary goes outside. The Puppeteer is talking with a cop. All the adults are shocked by what just happened. Mary's Dad comes back and hugs her.
The screen fades, showing the therapist's notes saying that Mary basically got over what happened.
before we get back to the main game something with red text starts talking
where is he where is he? it was just another game another game like the ones we always played hide and seek you were supposed to find me but then you never did where is he? like all the others in that box i have become forgotten me your favorite and best friend where is he? the game never finished i'm still hiding somewhere waiting for you to find me find the pieces and find me W H E R E I S H E ? keep asking maybe the ask the others
a childish laugh plays before we're sent back to the menu
final verdict
I mean come on, you already know this game is peak as hell! The gameplay is great, the visuals look great, it has actual replay value, it has an actual story, and most importantly, it has a thank you image in it.
I think it's pretty fair to give the game a 9/10. WOW A 9/10 whitebun review That's gotta be something to be proud of, right? right? right? right?
........i'm still here
