Hey, so what's been going on with the game?
To put it short, we're trying to find better ways to go about it. The team has been pretty disconnected, we've been working on the game on our own instead of as a group which has led to some pretty serious burnout for everyone involved. Needless to say, we're looking for alternative methods.
Now don't worry, this doesn't mean anything bad for Act 2. Quite the opposite actually! It means we're trying to get our shit together so we can actually make this game, we're all super invested in Tubbyland as a whole and the last thing we want to do is let it go again. However, there was something we DID need to let go of.
Five Nights at Dipsy's: Retoasted
As some of you may know, we were working on a full remake of the beta version of Tubbyland 1 using concepts from early versions of The Tubbyland Trilogy and actual cut things from the original game. This, unfortunately had to be scrapped for multiple reasons:
We've already remade Tubbyland 1 a handful of times, myself especially. Making Retoasted, while cool felt more like a rehash or repeating a cycle than it did making a small project for fun.
It was taking away time that we felt was better spent on the actual series itself, not a silly side project.
On top of those reasons, it just ended up being too much work. We still have two whole games to make after this one, and we ended up getting way in over our heads with Retoasted. As a result, Retoasted won't see the light of day... for the most part.
What I mean by that is working on Retoasted WAS still a good thing, it's given us ideas and concepts we'll happily put to use in later acts! Hell we even already know what to do with the character models, so keep an eye out for those in later games.
All in all, development is going well but we still have a lot to figure out. I wouldn't expect any major updates anytime soon, but progress is being made. We'll be sure to keep y'all in the loop whenever there's more to tell. Catch y'all later!
