So, recently I received a comment saying that said person tried to decompile my game and that he wanted to use my engine.
First things first:
Decompiling someone else’s game is ILLEGAL
Never in any situation try to decompile my or someone else’s game, the games that we make are fruit of our hard work and we don’t want anyone to steal and use it in they own way.
Also, whenever I talk about how awesome the engine I use is, it’s because I’m proud, as I’m the one who made this engine from scratch. When I started my games all I had was a totally empty game maker project. I never ever used anyone else’s code and I don’t want anyone else using mine, especially with NO PERMISSIONS!!!
And I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only game developer out there that thinks like that.
And even if it is a fan game:
my code is not “fan made”, it belongs to and was created by me
whenever I use a sprite or music I give the proper credit to the original creators of them (EVEN THE ONES FROM HIDDEN EASTER EGGS), and whenever it’s possible I try to ask them for permission beforehand
I’m sorry but I had to rant about this, it’s part of my duty as a game developer to protect my work.
