I think Ami would like to follow Max for an adventure. It's like Ami is being a younger sister to Max, they both would have some sibling-like relationships. Ami really admires Max and will follow him to have some fun during adventures.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.
In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
