An update on Raywin


It's been quiet again. I did promise you updates, so here's an update.

Firstly, I've noticed KoR steadily gaining folowers. Welcome to those of you who are new here! The fact that people are dropping by and following a game that isn't playable yet tells me that enough of you want to play the game as much as I do. Let's talk about the current state of the project.

Cards on the table- I'm struggling here. To be perfectly honest, I'm not a great game dev. Game Maker Studio made me seem like a fairly competant dev because I took the time to learn GML when I was a kid with all the time in the world. Now that I'm an adult, I don't have enough time to quickly learn other programming languages and IDEs. I'm currently working two full-time jobs and I just about have enough time to sleep.

My options are thus:

  1. Somehow raise the funds to purchase Game Maker Studio 2 so that I can continue work for the game on Mac.

  2. Attempt to move the project to Unity or Godot myself. This will mean learning a new engine and language before the project can move forward.

  3. Getting my old laptop into a somewhat functional state and continue working from there. I have no idea what this would cost.

  4. Get help from a superior developer and step into more of a director role.

In any case, I'm starting to think this project is going to start costing money. I'll spare you any exagreation, the state of my finances is dire. I lost my home a year ago this month and I have no food (or money to buy food) until the end of the month.
