The Main Theme and Survival Theme have been finished. There are now two versions of the Main Theme, the reworked original and a new version with a build-up section. However, after listening to it for about two hours straight I’ve decided I don’t really like the new addition of the build-up, so the reworked original will be the Main Theme. I won’t upload new version here, however once I get a game page up and running I’ll add it there as a cut bonus mix and you can decide whether you like it or not. Viva la Main Theme.
The Survival Theme has also been reworked, with the addition of off-kilter time signatures, dramatic horns, falling vocals, and drum solos. It generally sounds a lot better than the original and I’m happy with it (until probably a month from now when I decide I hate it).
These reworked songs will be uploaded sometime by the end of the week, either Friday or Saturday, both in the same video.
It took a while for me to get these songs together and exporting them was a whole other nightmare. After exporting, sounds would just cut out randomly, sustained notes would not sustain, and other sounds just wouldn’t play altogether. But after about 8 exports of each song I managed to get it. I did nothing different each time, just got lucky that the exported tracks finally had no issues. Note to anyone using Spitfire, this will most likely happen to you. You’ll have to find your own workaround for it in your DAW. My workaround was increasing both my DAWs stream buffer size and the Spitfire instrument’s buffer size so the instruments weren’t overloading and eating up all my CPU during playback. Still this only solved the issue some of the time.
