The series isn't going to die, it's just that there are complicated moments in real life and many dramas I've had with the same person that we'd all prefer to stop or turn the page and start a new chapter (even if I didn't ask for that in the first place). The game will be back in development with some remodels and new features, which explains the arrival of new characters that will fit in well with the series. When I put the “New” character model in question, well it'll be blurred out but with a riddle that you'll be able to tell the answer to in the comments.
