Hi, this is @Stormwindsky
writing this message to you.
I wanted to wish you a happy new year.
If you see this message, it means it was written this morning, on the last day of 2025, and will be published around 2026.
I wanted to say a big thank you for the 30 followers before 2026. It's rare for me to say this, but I think people made a very good decision, because around 2023, it looks like Valve is coming to Linux, which is a HUGE HELP!!! The Linux community, especially in gaming, I know it's not perfect. For example, online video games like Fortnite are often not natively available on Linux, and since the anti-cheat bugs due to Proton, you can get banned for no reason. But since I see that Linux is growing in popularity, I really hope that Adobe, Epic Games, etc. will finally be available natively or compatible on Linux via Proton, or better yet, natively, like Roblox. Sure, it has Sober, but at any moment it could stop working due to Roblox's guidelines, etc. But I'm very proud of Valve's decision because I think Microsoft's Windows is now rubbish. On Linux, you don't get pop-up ads like on Windows. Right, Microsoft?
And I've also noticed that some creators on Gamejolt are announcing that they're switching from Windows to Linux, or that it's simply their goal, because, for example, there's no Adobe on Linux except for Adobe Flash Player, but who really uses Flash Player in 2026?
It's rare that I challenge you, but you don't have to do it, but basically, keep promoting Linux even if you don't use it, and talk about how Linux isn't as complicated as people think, like Linux Mint, which only requires a USB key and a PC to migrate from Windows to Linux Mint. Explain what Linux Mint is and recommend the version based directly on Ubuntu for greater compatibility, etc.
And last things, unless I find other things to talk about
Basically, I wanted to warn you that I don't think the Steam Machine will be a success because of the price that will be announced, because due to AI, companies are deciding to buy so much electronics that it's causing prices to skyrocket, even for PS5s, iPhones, Android devices, etc. So I get the impression that Valve doesn't want to announce it right away because they know people are going to complain about it.
And I know that nothing is perfect in life, even Linux, Valve, etc., but I find that Linux is still better than Windows, and I'm happy to see that it's gaining popularity. I'm seeing less of the mentality that Linux is for nerds, without meaning any offense, of course.
Because if you use Android, well... congratulations, you're a user who uses Linux, but a Linux kernel that has been heavily modified by Google.
