Ivan and Andrew.
“Are you finished?”
He hummed for a moment. “Not quite. Just give me a second.”
“Andrew, I don't mean to sound impatient, but how long is this going to take? My legs are getting tired.”
“Hold on, man!” He laughed.
“Okay. Now I'm done,” He removed the blindfold from my face.
I stood there, looking at Andrew’s newest creation. Just a simple game, with a cliff and a long sunset.
“A sunset?”
“Not just any sunset! Check this out,” he grabbed the mouse and turned the camera around, showing little avatars of him and I. “It's our sunset. Pretty neat, huh?”
I look at him. “Is that it?”
“I mean… well, yeah. I wanted to make you something simple. As a thank you gift! For letting me stay with you and all.”
I look back at the computer. “...thanks, Andrew.”
Andrew’s grin faltered for a split moment, but he smiled; warm and trusting. “Of course man! You've been so nice to me, it's the least I could do.”
“Have you made progress?”
“Hm?” Andrew didn't bother to look at me from his computer.
“On the game.”
I could see his frame fall a little. “Oh, uh.. yeah. I got a lot done last night.”
I smiled. “Good. At this rate, we'll have it done by next week.”
Andrew paused. But he turned, and smiled back at me. “Yeah.”
I patted his shoulder. “Hey, no pressure, alright? Keep working at it tonight.”
“I will.”
“And come to me if you need anything, alright?”
“...I will.”
“Good. I'm gonna start getting ready for bed.”
Andrew looked at me as if he was going to say something. Our eyes locked for a moment, and he closed his mouth again. “Sleep well, Ivan. I..” he trailed off, turning back to his computer.
“You too, Andrew.” I smile back at him, turn, and walk away.
