Greetings Barxtenbros!
First I would like to apologize for lack of updates for Barxten's 2's progress, I'll admit that I haven't worked on that game since January, for a good reason, I've been busy doing other things outside of Barxten's Series lately, not like I'm making another game series... Nah definitely not, why would I?? Now, the game page of Barxten's 2 has been unlisted, but that obviously doesn't mean the game's cancelled, but rather it's on under reconstruction.
So, what's going on?
Meanwhile you'd see some teasers that contain 3D style, and here's why.
So making stuff on vector art has started to become complicated for me and it took me more time, due to this, there will be plans for Barxten's Series to have big changes (hence the title of this post), by changes I mean replacing this style of the game 2D to 3D. The thing is, vector art just isn't working out for me, vector modeling has made me exhausted and could lag the game due to how much effort I put on, and so I thought turning this game franchise into 3D would be a much better experience. This means Five Nights at Barxten's is officially having a 3D revamp, the 2D version can be still available, but only the HTML version, and won't receive updates. However, this would take more time to make since I'm still new to it, still need to learn how to put textures properly, this will take a while.
I have actually used Blender since like forever now, but at the time I didn't really figure it out that much, at first it was complicated and difficult to use, but as the time goes on I got used to it, I have been improving on my 3D skills on modeling just recently. Though, there is some problems, as you not know, I am using the version 2.79b and not the latest versions. This is because I'm just not fond with modern layouts as much, and making textures is a pain in the butt when it comes to UV editing, and it just makes brush textures whole pointless. What am I saying is, I'd rather stick with the old version than the recent one, improvements aside, it's just not my taste, like modern flat layouts and such, plus making textures on 2.7 is a lot easier in my opinion, they should bring it back though, and even having shade layouts like the old one, it would be so cool. But you know what they say, beggars can't be choosers.
I'm sorry for those who liked the 2D version by the way, I get it, the 2D style had some effort into it and now has left to waste, but like I said before, 2D vectoring just takes more time than 3D (well, for map layouts of course), but in my opinion, 3D looks better when it comes to most fangames, but that doesn't mean 2D styles are a bad thing, sure, it looks good and sort of fits to the style, but it takes effort to look good. But that also doesn't mean you need to put so much effort on art, it depends on your style of choice. Also I didn't like how that version turned out, the phone calls felt rushed and the mechanics where a little too confusing and hard, at the moment I'll try improve those mechanics as soon as I finish doing all the new renders of the game.
By the way a quick note here, but I also started learning to use GIMP image editor which is basically like Photoshop for free.
Apologies for My Bad English, I'm no good at communicating.
But with that being said, I hope you guys understand and/or appreciate this change, and thank you for being patient, stay tuned until next update!
