Big changes...
tl;dr at the bottom

Where to begin...

Originally, ZeroDay was going to be a platformer that played like Megaman. The basic idea for it started when I was working towards the Game Design merit badge in 2017. I still, to this day, have the notebooks that have the original enemy designs. I wanted to make the game then in that form, but didn't know how to make a game.

About a year later, I got into some computer classes in high school and was learning to code. It was during this time that I started getting into FPS games and introduced to Unity. I then decided that I was going to ZeroDay as an FPS, made in Unity using the FPS Microgame as a template. At some point, I started asking myself legal questions regarding the usage of the code from the microgame and decided not to continue with it. Ultimately, the idea for ZeroDay was put on the backburner as I focused on my studies.

Flash forward a few years, I graduated high school and started getting into RPGs. When RPGMaker MV went on sale on Steam, I snagged a copy and started working on it in that, eventually upgrading to RPGMaker MZ. During the last few weeks, I've been looking at my old notes and concepts for ZeroDay, and its got me thinking on how I want to continue. I want to try and combine the 3 concepts of the game being an FPS, a platformer, and an RPG. Sadly, to get this game there, I'll need to use a different engine, since RMMZ isn't capable of being a platformer or FPS.

My ultimate goal for this that has been shared between all 3 attempts has been to be able to make it run on my old laptop equipped with a gen-2 i7 intel CPU. If I could get the game to run, in whatever form it took, on that, then I could get it to run on pretty much anything.

So, I'm now in the market for a game engine that can be used to make ZeroDay all three genres and swap between them on a dime, but also stick to my self-imposed hardware limit. If any of y'all know a good engine that could do this, please let me know. In the meantime, I'm gonna look into maybe using the Godot engine.

tl;dr: I'm going to make ZeroDay an RPG, FPS, and 2D platformer. I am now hunting for a new game engine that can handle this, but also be able to have the game run on a potato rig.

A little sneak peak of the face sets I said I was working on before my ADHD said "Lets work on setting the framework for Trophies!"

Possible new logo? Might go throught a few more iterations. Your thoughts? (See comments for revisions)

If you were wondering why all the characters have colored outlines...

Update on the game engine situation and actual progress

Been working on faces. Here is a face for Tamana using a debug world I'm setting up for testing. ALSO, I added a screenshot from the game to the gallery. Shows a new enemy known as Adware.

So, I may have figured it out... Sorta. This may lead to good things. I'll keep y'all posted. No, I don't plan for there to be a unobtainable trophy, so the game will can be 100% completed, once I make 100% of the game.

DIET SIZED PROGESS REPORT

Sneak peak for the "ZeroDay Bible". Entry I wrote for Tamana. If you ppl want, I could post the other entrys I have for characters and locations within ZeroDay.
