I think it's safe to say that everyone is tired of that extremely long hiatus about any CT3 progress. No, CT3 is nowhere close to being "dead" or "forbidden", we are still actively working on it! And here's what we're ready to say.
Hiatus Reason
Since we've been actively working on Clickertale 3 you may ask why haven't we shared anything?
Well, the answer is very simple, actually. Your reactions are the most important thing for us. It's what keeps us working on the project, just because it's so nice to see y'all playing our games and especially reacting to the new gameplay changes/bosses/enemies/locations and etc. That's why we want you to experience the game as blind as possible, so you would be surprised by everything we've put in the game.
However, once Clickertale 3 v1 will be released we won't leave you guys without any dev logs once again.
Current Progress
After working on the project almost every day since the beginning of March, we've done a lot, honestly.
Progress list:
First location - 100%
Second location - ~90%
Third location - 100%
Enemy attacks - 100%
Difficulties - 35%
Item mechanics - 4%
Regular levels (non-boss ones) - 0%
Simulations - 20%
Some of the points might bring up some questions, so I'm going to explain some of them.
Enemy Attacks - Attacks of non-boss enemies aka Undertale monsters, like Gyftrot; Whimsum; etc
Difficulties - Clickertale 3 will have three difficulties that actually do significant changes to the game. Casual difficulty spawns fewer bullets and makes the bullet speed lower, also can completely change hard attack patterns to easier ones. Normal difficulty is default Clickertale 3 experience. Extreme difficulty spawns a lot more bullets; makes them faster and also activates extreme attack patterns too for some enemies.
Item Mechanics - Some of you might not know this, but Clickertale 3 will have a bunch of items - weapons; armor; accessories; one-use items and artifacts. Most of them will have unique abilities that may slightly change how your battle is played, allowing you to come up with cool tactics to beat the battles. Don't worry about "4%", I believe it won't be so hard to implement
In addition, the best part of the items is that you don't need to grind for the best-tier items, if you're good at the game! If you like giving yourself more challenge, then fine, feel free to not grind and just breeze through the game. However, if you're struggling with beating the game, you probably should grind for the better equipment.
That doesn't mean the items will be useless though, they still are an important part of beating the game.
Regular Levels - Story non-boss levels. They never were a problem to make, it's all about choosing which enemies to put in the battle, which really shouldn't be a problem.
Simulations - This will be a new way of adding the "clicker" and "grinding" aspect to the game. Basically, simulations are endless and random creation of enemy waves.
Estimated Release Date
Currently, we're thinking that CT3 might be released in late June/July, the latest it can get is late summer, but I don't think it'll take that much longer!
The Future?
Clickertale 3 is one of the most important projects I (Vitjok) has ever had. I am incredibly proud of what I managed to accomplish with this game. It looks amazing, believe me. And one of the most important reasons the game looks so good is because of my new artist team, which really made the project go from ~10 to 100 very quickly.
However, even though it looks amazing, the development became a bit pricy too. That's why I've been getting second thoughts about CT3. It's not a secret that it is a bit late to publish brand new Undertale fan-game in current time, because, you know, Undertale exists for 5 years and the popularity of it decreased too. If CT3 will not get enough hype, I'm not sure how worth will it be continuing the game with so much pressure on me. The overworld; characters; bosses; enemy attacks; story - it all needs to be done and if it won't be rewarding enough in the end, I'd rather move to something easier to make.
If everything goes right though, there's a lot of content planned! If someone won't like how v1 location characters won't be the ones you've already seen - get ready for future locations, where you'll see quite a lot of familiar faces!
Thank You
Thank you for reading this huge dev-log, I wish I could tell more, but I think it'll be a lot better if you experience the first version knowing as less as possible!
