The reason ink creatures like Mono, Joshua and Kit exist instead of being humans or anthros is because they are demons, which experienced people immediately recognize due to their greyscaled colors. The reason as to why they arrived on earth (as babies no less) is unknown. Though the attraction that other demonic entities such as Killjoy have toward them is notable.
