his inclusion in the fight between beltboy and hart ruins its atmosphere

i don't like how ribcage just went into a monologue about how horrible of a person hart is as if the player doesn't already know and hasn't already been affected by the deaths of rodriguez, cyclops and lanks

it's already been hammered in that the lovelies are not good people, but there is some extra dimensionality here in that rodriguez's crew wanted to get the girl for their own selfish reasons like the lovelies do

yet we cared for them much more than we did the lovelies, because they cared for each other even as they journeyed to find someone just to violate that someone, they had humanity and taco salad did a good job of humanizing what would have essentially been a bunch of npcs in the original painful

if you needed catharsis, the scene in the original hopeful where beltboy nails every one of his shots and all four lovelies with hart fall over dead instead of engaging in a fight scene was perfect and sent the message that hart was going down

the exact opposite of painful's dynamic where brad simply could no longer listen, dusty didn't want to fight, and both want the same thing: to protect buddy

benny and hart are going to tear each other apart, nothing more needs to be explained, and while hart wanted five, she wasn't even on benny's mind

so simply giving ribcage's speech to benny wouldn't have been a fix either

some things just don't need to be touched

for clarification's sake, what i'm about to say applies solely to the joyless route, mutant benny and his ending was a huge improvement from the original

normally arnold perspective mods and their huge numbers are a little obnoxious, but there it was appropriate, indulge in power fantasy and boom, mind go bye-bye, shouldn't have taken the joy

but if there was one thing that needed changing, it'd be how anti-climactic the heart fight was in the original hopeful, maybe toss in a unique mechanic for the guy's mutant form, like one where you must listen to heartbeats or something to determine when it is safe to attack him

too bad little-to-none was done on that front, i don't play expansion mods to have an easier final boss
