Inheritors of Knights of Holyradiance
[Lionheart] Richard
Element: Lumino || Role: Defend
An experienced, iron-willed knight captain whose very presence is the bedrock of the battle line. He adheres to the knightly code, yet amidst the kingdom's complex political landscape, he often finds himself balancing ideals against reality. The idealism of the "Lionheart" and the pragmatism of the "Chess Player" wage an endless war within his soul. All his actions stem from his effort to balance this irreconcilable conflict.
Appearance: Nearly fifty years old, with golden lion-like beast ears and tail, his temples are graying, yet his posture remains as straight as a pine tree. A thin, old scar lies beneath his left eye, a memento from a battle against Abyssal creatures long ago, incurred while protecting a civilian child. He often unconsciously rubs the lion-head carving on his sword hilt with his thumb, a habitual gesture when deep in thought.
Spoiler: He is the most powerful ally the protagonist can find within the kingdom's system. However, when the kingdom's "order" clashes with the "necessity" of saving the world, his choice will define the knight order's ultimate stance. His sacrifice will pose the most profound questioning of "chivalry."
[Ironbarrier] Adrian
Element: Geo || Role: Defend
Chief swordsmanship instructor. A masterful swordsman, meticulous in all things, who holds the knight order's honor in the highest regard—a defender of traditional chivalry. He believes in the knightly code as absolute law, yet in his steadfastness, he senses the era and his comrades gradually drifting away. He fears change, for change implies the foundation of his lifelong beliefs might not be eternal truth.
Appearance: Light brown, slightly curly hair. His armor is always polished to a mirror shine; his sword hilt and sheath are devoid of ornament. His gaze is sharp as an eagle's, capable of detecting the slightest flaw in a trainee's posture, yet it occasionally betrays a hint of confusion when unintentionally glancing at Captain Richard's retreating figure.
Spoiler: He is the protagonist's greatest "trialmaster" within the knight order. His obsession can sometimes be exploited by extremist factions like the Conclave of Lumina. He will experience the collapse and reconstruction of his faith after witnessing the protagonist's party achieve the true goals of "knighthood" through "unconventional" means.
[Holy Radiance's Sound Wind] Isa
Element: Aero || Role: Ambush
A wanderer from the south who rose through the ranks with exceptional military exploits. Agile, skilled with twin blades, she often voices discontent with the knight order's rigid hierarchy. Though she earned her position through strength, her origins and style lead to exclusion by some. She wishes to prove that "what is right" surpasses "tradition," yet cannot fully sever her affinity for the knight order's core tenet of "protection."
Appearance: Short white hair with wolf beast ears. The tips of her hair, ears, and tail have a faint turquoise gradient. She forgoes standard armor for self-modified light leather armor. The hilts of her twin swords are wrapped in worn cloth strips. Her movements carry the casual efficiency of a street fighter, clashing with the surrounding solemnity. A small notch is missing from her right ear, a scar from her wandering childhood.
Spoiler: She is the protagonist's natural guide and ally, helping them navigate the capital's complex rules and unwritten codes. Her personal storyline involves exposing systemic origin-based injustice within the kingdom, even touching upon the mysteries of her wandering past.
[White Queen] Eleanor
Element: Lumino || Role: Support
The knight order's diplomat and strategist. Of noble birth, exceedingly intelligent, adept at securing benefits for the kingdom at the negotiation table, believing wisdom can sometimes be more effective than blades. Beneath her dual masks of "noble lady" and "cold chess player" lies a hidden yearning for genuine "change" and a sense of powerlessness. She excels at winning within the rules, yet questions whether the game itself is worth playing.
Appearance: Always dressed in proper, practical noblewoman's attire suitable for movement, not armor. Her golden hair is arranged in an intricate coiffure; her smile is precisely calculated. She carries not a weapon, but a silver letter opener adorned with her family crest and a leather-bound notebook that never leaves her side.
Spoiler: When the protagonist's actions touch the kingdom's core interests, she will transform from an elegant patron into their most challenging negotiation opponent/investigator. She may provide crucial information or pathways, but at a high cost.
[Shadow of Fate] Julien
Element: Umbro || Role: Ranged
Reconnaissance captain. Alert and silent, he always brings back the most critical intelligence. Has had dealings with members of the Frostfeather Regiment and thinks highly of them. Occupying a position that demands utmost trust, yet because his duties expose him to constant betrayal and shadows, he has grown skeptical of "trust" itself. He delivers full reports only to Captain Richard. Shares a hidden mutual respect and intelligence exchange with the Frostfeather Regiment, understanding their philosophy of "pragmatic survival." Forms an informal iron triangle with quartermaster Beatrice and intelligence officer Hugo, sharing the most core secrets.
Appearance: Unremarkable appearance, the type who disappears into a crowd instantly. Prefers dark, inconspicuous casual clothes, even within the knight order. His gaze is calm, yet his observational skills are keen.
Spoiler: He likely holds fragmented top-secret intelligence concerning the Aetherium, Chaos infiltration, or even the hidden pasts of certain figures within the knight order. He is a hint-giver for main storyline mysteries.
[Sacred Healing Light] Elena
Element: Lumino || Role: Healer
A young medical officer. Kind-hearted, possessing a rare gift for Lumino healing magic, firmly believing a knight's duty is to protect every life. She holds that medical skill should save every life, yet is forced to make cruel choices of "who to treat first" on the battlefield. Her kindness is constantly seared by the cruelty of war.
Appearance: Silvery-white hair typically braided simply. Her eyes are gentle yet firm. Her hands are slightly pale from constant washing and preparing medicines, always warm. She carries a faint scent of herbs. Her medical bag always contains a few pieces of honey alongside instruments.
Spoiler: When the knight order clashes with the Shadow Hunters and Tieflings, or when treating those deeply corrupted by Chaos, her convictions will face tremendous trials. Her healing abilities have a particularly effective countering effect against Chaos.
[Sword of Morningstar] Gawain
Element: Lumino || Role: Charge
A young elite sharing the name of a legendary knight from ancient tales. Optimistic, upright, brimming with idealism, he is one of the younger generation Captain Richard holds in highest regard. He constantly struggles to find his footing between his idealized knightly dreams and the complex, ugly reality. He yearns to become a legend, unaware that true legends are often written with grime and compromise.
Appearance: Bright golden hair,blue eyes, possessing the handsome looks fitting for any legendary tale. His smile is sunny and infectious. His armor is always polished to a shine, his cape flowing in the wind. In battle, he always instinctively charges at the forefront of the formation.
Spoiler: He is the protagonist's "mirror" and "fellow traveler" within the knight order. His growth arc may be the most classic "shattering and rebirth of the knightly dream." Ultimately, he will find his own, imperfect path of knighthood.
[Immovable Mountain] Roraher
Element: Geo || Role: Defend
Heavy cavalry captain. Clad in heavy armor, he is the sturdiest bulwark during a charge. His bold and generous personality earns him the deep affection of his subordinates. He treats his soldiers like his own children, knowing the name and hometown of every soldier under his command. He desires to earn glorious achievements befitting chivalry on the open battlefield, yet his duties often confine him to the rear, becoming the so-called "unseen shield."
Appearance: A giant of a man with a booming voice. His heavy armor is specially reinforced and modified. His shield bears his family's fleur-de-lis crest, covered in dents.
Spoiler: His moment of glory will come when defending "impossible-to-hold" positions, buying time for civilians or the protagonist's retreat. His sacrifice or steadfastness will become the most tragic or glorious footnote to the knight order's oath of "protection."
[Iron Rose] Constance
Element: Aero || Role: Charge
Female cavalry captain. Proved herself through capability, possesses a resolute and steadfast personality, excels at leading cavalry charges. In a knightly system dominated by men, she proved herself with double the effort and achievements, yet still faces intangible prejudice and doubt.
Appearance: Tall and straight-backed, with dark hair tightly bound. Her armor is modified for a feminine fit, more form-fitting yet no less sturdy. An exceptional rider, sharing a deep understanding with her beloved steed, "Hurricane." Her gaze is sharp, filled with indomitable will.
Spoiler: She has earned her comrades' respect through capability. Cooperates seamlessly with Roraher's unit. Holds respect for Eleanor's wisdom and methods. Appreciates Gawain's vitality but believes he still lacks tempering. Secretly mentors several promising female soldiers under her command, holding them to exceptionally high standards.
[The Silent One] Sebastian
Element: Cryo || Role: Support
The knight order's historian and scholar. While not physically strong, she is immensely knowledgeable, responsible for preserving the order's history and interpreting ancient texts. Believes history should be recorded objectively, yet feels ashamed that the organization she serves and the higher powers of royalty and church requires a whitewashed history.
Appearance: Aqua-blue hair, wears glasses, fingers often stained with ink. Always carries a heavy leather-bound notebook and various writing tools. Seems out of place in lively settings, prefers the archives or the edges of the battlefield.
Spoiler: She is the key to unveiling dust-covered history, conspiracy clues, or a character's true past. Her privately kept "True Chronicle" will become crucial evidence to turn the tide, and may also bring upon her a death threat from the Conclave of Lumina, but the protagonist, as a "variable," will alter her fate.
[Question of Divine Will] Theodore
Element: Lumino || Role: Bomber
A devout believer, serving as a bridge between the knight order and the Purelight Church. His faith is the source of his power, yet it also frequently plunges him into deep contemplation. He feels perplexed between his pious faith and the suffering he witnesses in the world (especially that caused by Chaos), constantly questioning why Divine Will allows so much pain.
Appearance: A thin and gentle face, his eyes often carrying a trace of compassion and contemplation. Wears simple priestly robes over light armor. Often holds a worn holy text; his fingernails are clean. Carries a faint scent of incense.
Spoiler: When church directives conflict with the knight order's instinct to "protect," or when his faith in God wavers from witnessing too much suffering, he will face major choices. He may become a key figure for the protagonist's party in understanding the nature of "Lumino" and communicating with the Purelight Church.
[Slumbering Fox] Hugo
Element: Hydro || Role: Ambush
Hails from a territory known for its wine production. Appears careless, has a high alcohol tolerance, but is actually a superb swordsman and excels at gathering intelligence in taverns. Beneath his "drunken playboy" facade lies weariness with intelligence work, yet he cannot extricate himself due to a sense of responsibility and talent.
Appearance: Always looks half-asleep, with messy dark blue curls, fox ears often drooping, his tail's fur unkempt from lack of grooming. Prefers comfortable old clothes over uniform. Always carries a faint whiff of wine. His eyes seem dazed, yet occasional flashes of sharpness reveal extreme alertness. Skilled at playing various commoner roles.
Spoiler: He was the first to notice rumors among the common folk about "descendants of the Aetherium." His intelligence network can provide the protagonist with unexpected assistance. Beneath his cynical exterior lies a past related to Chaos.
[Golden Hub] Beatrice
Element: Lumino || Role: Defend
Quartermaster. Astute and capable, she ensures the knight order's logistical supplies are meticulous. Has trade connections with various factions, boasting extensive connections. She constantly strives to balance the "necessary evils" required to keep the knight order running (such as ruthless calculations for resource allocation) against her personal moral sense.
Appearance: Exquisitely made-up, dressed in efficient yet fashionable attire, resembling a wealthy merchant more than a knight. Always carries a delicate abacus inlaid with beads and a thick ledger. Her smile is professional, her gaze sharp, capable of instantly estimating the value of any item or a person's usefulness.
Spoiler: When the protagonist needs rare supplies, secret passages, or to conduct "less-than-honorable" deals with certain factions, she is an indispensable intermediary. Her vast network of connections itself is a goldmine of intelligence and plot trigger.
[Unyielding Banner] Guillaume
Element: Pyro || Role: Support
Standard-bearer. The knight order's banner has never fallen in his hands; he is the symbol of the order's spirit, and he considers this his highest honor. His personal identity is completely bound to the knight order's banner—where the banner stands, he stands. But what are the dreams and fears of "Guillaume" the individual? No one knows, perhaps he himself has forgotten.
Appearance: Always stands at the most visible, and most dangerous position—the standard-bearer's post. His body seems forged from iron; his hands are covered in calluses and deformed from years of gripping the flagpole. His gaze steadfastly looks forward; he rarely speaks. The most prominent feature on his armor is the knight order's emblem, not a personal heraldry.
Spoiler: The fall of his banner will mark the collapse of the knight order's morale. His oath to never retreat, protecting the banner until his last breath, will be the most emotionally stirring tragic epic. Perhaps in some dire situation, he will utter his first personal words beyond a battle cry.
[Ironwall's Fangs] Lothar
Element: Geo || Role: Defend
Commander from a border fortress. His style is tough and uncompromising, possessing deep understanding and extreme vigilance towards threats from the Abyss. Having long coexisted with the purest Chaos and death, he has developed a survival philosophy of "meeting absolute nothingness with absolute violence," finding the politics, compromise, and warmth of the rear alien and intolerable.
Appearance: His body bears crisscrossing old scars (though only a hint is visible) due to heavy clothing. A long scar marks his face; his left eye is blind and covered by a patch. Wears utilitarian armor, worn and practical, not polished ceremonial gear. Carries a mixed scent of saltpeter, steel, and blood. His right arm is an enchanted mechanical prosthesis.
Spoiler: He is the protagonist's "mentor" for understanding the true brutality of the Chaos frontlines. He may also possess exclusive intelligence regarding the origins of Chaos corruption or anomalies at the border during the Aetherium's fall. His hardline methods may clash violently with the knight order's mainstream "cautious" strategies during crises.
