Hello everyone!
Following the major physics update in v0.6.0, I’ve been hard at work refining the gameplay experience based on your feedback and diving deep into some exciting new mechanics. Version 0.7.1 is here, and it’s packed with improvements that make the game smoother, more strategic, and much more enjoyable, especially on mobile devices.
Here’s a look at what’s new:
Major Mobile Experience Overhaul
I've dedicated a significant amount of effort to improving the game on mobile and touch devices.
Responsive & Adaptive UI: The entire game area now intelligently scales to fit your screen, ensuring a perfect view on any device, in any orientation. The top UI widgets now wrap smartly on smaller screens, keeping your view of the action clear.
Performance Boost: I’ve optimized the Level Select screen for mobile, reducing heavy animations to ensure a smooth and responsive experience, even on less powerful devices.
Improved Touch Controls: Pointer events have been implemented across the board, fixing issues with drag-and-drop controls for both the ball and bumpers on mobile. Unwanted scrolling and zooming during gameplay have also been eliminated for a seamless experience.
Deeper Gameplay & New Mechanics
Get ready for new challenges and more dynamic gameplay!
New Obstacle: The Gravity Well! A new "Gravity Well" obstacle has been introduced, which repels the ball. This adds a new layer of strategy to trajectory planning.
Ball Splitter & Multi-Ball Puzzles: The "Ball Splitter" mechanic is now fully functional! Levels featuring this obstacle will now correctly create a second ball, opening up new puzzle possibilities that require you to manage multiple balls at once.
Refined Physics & Feel: I’ve fine-tuned the physics for more lively and satisfying bounces. The "Black Hole" obstacle is now more formidable, with a stronger pull and larger area of influence.
Smarter Portals: Teleportation is now more precise, with the ball exiting from the center of the portal. I’ve also added a brief grace period to prevent unfair losses immediately after teleporting.
Scoring & UI Polish
Live Score Updates: Your score now updates in real-time as the ball moves, based on the distance it travels.
Bounce Bonuses: To make skillful shots more rewarding, you’ll now get immediate bonus points for ricocheting off walls and bumpers.
Unified End-of-Level Screen: I’ve streamlined the end-of-level experience with a new, unified modal for level success, failure, and new high scores.
