So I was thinking about how to access the challenges, or more importantly why are we allowed to access them. Something came to mind. Who could be dispensing the challenges exactly?
Well, someone with knowledge that this is a game could. So of course you know who I'm thinking about... not Glitchbear. No, he knows this is a game, in the sense that you are being played. Does he know this is an actual game? Perhaps, but he has other projects. No, perhaps a more malevolent spirit could. Someone who is known in the FNAF series for being able to glitch, for being able to move between games, someone mysterious still to the community. Someone... like RWQFSFASXC (Shadow Bonnie).
It seems exactly like the kind of character who could be dispensing you pointless additional challenges for the fun of it, who can warp between games as easily as breathing, the kind of character who breaks the fourth wall and mocks you while doing it. Who knows this is all a game but is ok with it, because it just wants to have destructive, chaotic fun.
So, a short dialogue later, we get presented with the challenges. I'd suggest dividing them in three categories, something that still mocks you while choosing them, something like:
Piece of cake: the easier ones, which don't add a lot in terms of difficulty. Something like Virtua-gang, Wrong Party or Night Shift
Troubling: we get to the harder ones, where spamming a single attack might not work, where you actually have to think before heading in. Something like Arena, Difficulty 20 or Permanently Broke
Unfortunate: these are the neck-breaking challenges, the ones that require hours and hours of grinding, strategizing, luck and will to complete them. These are the challenges which don't care to be fair, right or balanced. These are the ones that require full knowledge of the game to be able to be beaten. Something like Screw Crew, From Start to End or Permanently Dead
You can see RWQFSFASXC be bored while on the Piece of Cake menu, at times almost just sleeping or about to; it'll become interested on the Troubling menu, looking at you and showing a modicum of excitement; he'll become uncanny and excited on the unfortunate menu, showing how it's been waiting for the player to choose something from there.
So... what do you think? Could this explanation work for challenge runs?
