Cult Survivors 0.3.0 Update: added boss loot, changed level up choices, buffed status effects, many minor fixes.


Hello Followers,

Time for another big update! In this update we introduce two major changes and a handful of smaller changes to text, font, and descriptions of both weapons and passives for overall better readability. The two big changes are the introduction to “boss passives” and splitting level up rewards. Both these and some of the smaller changes are explained in depth below.  

  • Boss Passives

    • These are a new type of passives that are only available after defeating a boss. Unlike the regular passives these are one-off and should function as run shapers. These passives are strong on their own and focus on the different types of weapons you can get in the game. The current pool is large enough that you won’t see the same 4 passives every run, but more and more boss passives will be added as we develop the game further.

  • Level up Split

    • One thing we noticed was the randomness of what you were going to get after a level up, a weapon or passive, made the game “unfair” in not a fun way. To eliminate that randomness we have implemented a level up split. So from now on when you level up you will alternate between weapons and passives choice, to ensure there is a fair balance of both for the player. We are still working on the experience gain and curve to make this method perfect, but currently this system still feels better than the old random one.

  • Balancing of Status Effects and Passives

    • We have buffed all status effects by increasing how long one stack of the status effect stays on, so that if feels more impactful and easier to stack to the maximum amount. Additionally we have buffed some passives that felt too weak so that they are viable to take now.

Minor Changes:

  • Tooltips popups added to describe what status effects actually do! (Just hover an underlined word)

  • Weapon tags are now displayed on level up screen.

  • Changed font for easier reading and overall less ugliness!

  • Weapon rotation changed so guns fire in the direction they are pointing at.

  • Updated UI to look better.

  • Weapon info can now be viewed on the pause screen.

  • Added a mac version!
