Then what is it you ask?
The most important parts are:
1. Explaining to the viewer your idea/product in the simplest way possible, you can look at warning signs on some kind of chemicals, you don't need to know a language to understand these, that's what good design is.
Understanding without a lot of knowledge on the topic.
2. Catching the viewer's attention, your design can be the most beautiful piece of artwork but if it doesn't catch someone's attention your product/idea won't sell.

Other parts of the design are more artistic and specific, so don't worry about them if you are starting.
