Development Update #3


I’m excited to share the biggest development update for Shadows Awaken in quite some time.

Environment Design Update

Recently, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the environment design. After careful consideration, I decided to give it a significant upgrade. This not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also improves the game's difficulty and balance. While I’ve mainly focused on redesigning the first floor, and though a lot has changed visually, the layout remains almost the same.


Demo Completion Status

Here’s where we stand with the demo:

General Progress:

- Animations: 100% complete

- Environment Design: 100% complete

- Cutscenes: 100% complete

- Sound Design: 100% complete

- Base Coding (Player, Interactable Objects, Trigger Events): 100% complete

- Prop Models: 100% complete

- 2D Drawings: 80% complete

Voice Acting:

- Almost all voiceovers have been submitted and implemented in the game.

General AI:

- 100% complete (balance checks are still required)

Level Design:

- 100% complete (balance checks are still required)

Music:

- 100% complete (for the demo only)


What’s Next?

The game is in a good state, with substantial progress made. The pre-alpha will be ready for testers in just a few days, meaning early access will soon be available on my Ko-fi page

I’ll soon start posting exclusive content on Ko-fi, including:

- New environment design previews

- Gameplay screenshots (without heavy spoilers)

- Animations

Please note that exclusive content will not be shared on public platforms like Game Jolt or Twitter. There’s a difference between early content reveals and exclusive content, so make sure you’re aware before subscribing for a membership.

For now, there won’t be an environment design showcase as I plan to share these exclusively on Ko-fi.
