Alright, I figured since it's been 69 days since the last devlog post, I'd get you all updated on what's happening.
What has been made since the last Devlog?
Short answer: Not much.
Long answer: I've struggled to work on the game while making daily gaming videos on youtube which is why I decided to stop making the daily videos and instead focus on this game. I just stopped with the videos this week's Tuesday (26.12.2023) and already got a good bit of work done.
What's currently being worked on?
Short answer: A level builder so I can use that to make the base levels for the game, and modability.
Long answer: I'm currently working on a level builder for the game, this is because I feel like the built-in tilemap editor of Godot didn't quite do the thing I needed and I figured if I'm gonna make a level builder later on anyways, I might as well make it now.
List of things I need to do before the next devlog:
Level builder, level loading, - saving and custom tilesets
Make a demo level and finish the game loop
Level selector
Juice
And the rest is yet to be decided.
About the game's future:
I have many cool ideas for this game and I know I can make it. I want to make something that's not overly complicated, something with a cool story that doesn't get in the way too much. And above all else I want to make this game fun, which is why the game mechanics come before anything else (apart from the level builder).
Despite the lack of devlogs for over 2 months, I never lost motivation to work on the game and I really, really want to make this game. I, for some reason, could not focus on the game while making the daily videos. Yet at last, the problem is solved, and I am getting up to speed on developing this game.
The meaning of this game has grown so much in my head since I started it, and now it's like a beautiful child... or fetus, considering it's still in heavy development.
As always, if you have any questions, suggestions or anything else, comment them below and I'll try my best to answer. Thank you for reading!
