DreamHackJam

After a crazy weekend, an early access build of Humans has been released. Although the game didn’t get to where I wanted it to be for #dreamhackjam, I am happy that I at least released something. There were a number of large issues I encountered while working on this project.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get started until very late Friday night, about 20 hours into the game jam. I started by making some changes to my Unreal Engine source code and having to recompile a large portion of the engine… and instantly regretting it.

On Saturday I had an obligation to fulfill in the afternoon/evening/night, but I got a few things done in the morning. I shut down my work/build PC to let it get some beauty sleep until Sunday…

I couldn’t get my PC to boot up properly Sunday afternoon when I finally got back to work… lol… Idk exactly what it was but unplugging one of my hard drives allowed it to boot properly. I shut down, plugged it back in, and I was back in business.

All-in-all, I probably spent around 12 hours actually working on the game and game assets… It’s unfortunate I didn’t get a lot of the ideas I had into this first release of the game, but that’s okay. I will have something to work on in my free time :)

I’m going to get this game where I was imagining I could get it for the dreamhack jam before moving on for sure.

Cheers,
—Adasi
