First Post - Second Week of Class

Hey there!

I’m currently lecturing a subject called Behavioral Modelling for Virtual Reality and im using this page for uploading test builds to showcase what im going to teach and what they’re assignments gonna be.

This subject will focus mostly on beginners level for Unity. So everything i post within this game page will be fairly basic. from basic Character Controllers, to Rigidbodies, to Raycasting, to NavMesh if possible. Its all technical and not much on design subject.

So for this week, we’re just covering the introduction to scripting in Unity by trying out a basic FPS game. Very basic.

The actual thing we’re trying to do today is the file FPS Shooter BehMod. It is to introduce and understand the components needed in a basic C# script. thus the simplicity of the game.

the HackNSlash and FPS Shooter Test builds are just a taste of what’s to come and might be one of their class assignments.

I’m doing all this while im teaching another subject called Virtual Reality Design 3, which is for the same students actually. That subject is mostly focus on the design aspect of how to create VR applications or games. They are in their second year of Degree so they should be more than capable of developing awesome projects later on the semester.

I would love to hear if their any comments or opinions on subjects regarding VR. as a gaming community, what would you expect out of VR in the future? I personally feel that the VR field is an ever evolving industry and that it is hard to boil down to specific tech and gadgets such as Oculus and the such, so we try to focus more on the content itself. But that’s just me. Feel free to comment any opinions below and let me know.

also, would love to hear if there’s any parts of Unity that you might find interesting for me to teach so that i could share the prototype here and maybe a tutorial on how to do it.

After my lecture this afternoon, im going to clean up my Tutorial Notes and upload them here for you guys to learn if you’re into that. I love to share even though it is kinda basic but some might actually benefit from it.

See you guys next week

ps: why this is the second week post? because the first week was just an introduction to the whole course and it was before a week of Eid holiday and i took another week leave afterwards, so there was nothing much happening on the first week. This week would be the actual start of the class for me so lets hope to have a good one.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!

Ladies & gentlemen.. The Blender logo factory! I had a ton of un making this animation. I'll be making a short tutorial on picking up/dropping object in Blender for animations next week! What do you think?
